That night, Rin Okumura gained no rest. Although the being to have shared his presence had long since left and was no longer nearby, something odd was still bothering him. An instinct, one he couldn't understand, wouldn't let him.
It felt odd, his mind that is, like he just couldn't go to rest. Something in him was almost trying to push him asleep, but something else was painfully alert, as if fighting back against another unknown factor within him. No, not within him, something was fighting to get in, but something else was blocking it.
The first of the sun's rays would soon shine down over the campus within another three hours, and something within him bent at the will of the third factor. It seemed to fill him in some place within his mind he couldn't fathom, like an unseen hiding place of which a toddler might hide in whilst playing a game of hide and seek. His eyelids suddenly felt unbearably heavy and he realized his vision to be fading as whatever that had been trying to keep him awake finally subdued under defeat, the sound of gleeful and triumphant giggles were the last thing he had heard before his consciousness dissipated into nothingness.-
"Rin." Yukio seemed to repeat to the unmoving other. He was shaking him by the shoulder, trying to rouse the adolescent half demon.
"Rin, wake up." He repeated, Rin finally opening one lone eye. He felt off again, and he honestly didn't want to get up. He groaned, trying to turn on his side to block out the light that he had just noticed. Yukio frowned at this and shook him again.
"Rin, we need to get going or else we'll be late!" Yukio told in an urgent, but still hushed, tone."I don't wanna" Rin's drowsy fumbling of words finally said, covering his eyes with an arm so as to prevent the painful rays from striking his closed eyes. Yukio observed him for a moment before speaking again, confusion and worrry touching his voice.
"Are you okay?" He asked, brow furrowed. Rin simply groaned as a response, his tail curling around his leg from beneath a blanket.
"The light...huuurts" Rin whined, seeming to pause due to his threat hurting. Yukio's brow furthered in its furrowing and he stood up, getting off of the bed, to turn off the lights.
"Better?" Yukio asked, making his voice as soothing as possible. Rin simply groaned again, but he moved his head in affirmation. Yukio place a hand to Rin's forehead to test his temperature, but pulled back as it felt as if his hands, icy by comparison, had just touched the blazing blue heat of the ill demon's flames.
"I'll call you in sick." Yukio stated, getting up again and calling Mephisto and conversing for a short while. Silence pervaded the room as neither person spoke, Rin almost falling back asleep. He thought Yukio returned a few times to him, fussing over his health and whatnot, and a thermometer had been slipped into his mouth, followed shortly by some liquid medication. Yukio said something along the lines of having to leave for class, and then nothing but silence remained in the building. It didn't last very long.
A hand pushed his bangs from his face as the figure from the night before cooed to him soothingly."What's wrong, Oku-chan? Caught a bug or something?" The person asked in a tone akin to a mother addressing an ill child or something of the like. Rin raised one eyelid to view the face of his unwelcome guest, and his eyes widened from surprise upon seeing the figure.
It was none other than the person who hadn't given him a name the night prior, the one to have asked for Rin's and then left soon after getting his answer. He had, for whatever reason, returned.
"Come on, Oku-chan, you can tell me~" he continued to coo. When he received no answer from Rin, who seemed to not desire to speak for the moment, he huffed before standing back up, deciding to wander about the room and then the dormitory.
"Nifty place you got here." He said as he returned to the room, which had seemed to have gone unlocked. Rin stared at him, as if trying to beckon him closer, and the person obliged."Water" Rin croaked through his aching throat. The person smiled kindly and retrieved the requested beverage, but held it out of the ill demon's reach.
"What do you say?" He asked in a tone akin to a lecturing parent whilst dealing with a young child.
"Thank you" Rin responded with the same rasp.
"Good boy!" The person exclaimed, prideful of something, before handing the cup to Rin, who gulped all of the wet contents instantly. Rin felt himself being patted on the head like a well trained dog by the other person, who continued to swoon over the ill being. It was so odd, this person hardly knew him, and yet he acted so casual, as if they had been friends for years.
Why was it that he had gotten ill the morning after meeting this person? Was there a connection? He voiced his thoughts more clearly than he had been able to before drinking the much appreciated glass of water, and to which he received a mildly bemused look in return from the other person."Of course not, silly! You probably just caught a bug or something, you were hanging out there for a good while after all." The person responded, giving a heartfelt laugh, as if Rin had just spouted a humorous joke, and yet, for a moment, he swore he saw something off key, a glint in the person's eyes.
"So, um, what's your name, anyways?" Rin found himself asking again, hoping for a different answer than the one he had gotten the last time he had tried this.
"Can't tell you that, not yet, but don't worry; you'll have your answer soon enough." The person said with a grin.
"Why can you tell me your name?" Rin asked, brow furrowed.
"Well, I hate to tell you this, but it's really dumb to go and spout out your name, especially in your line of business. I suggest you not run around and give it off to everyone you meet, unless of course you're sure of what they are." The person paused and smiled cheekily.
"Tell you what, you can call me 'T' for now." T said with that same grin."T?" Rin questioned in a slightly hushed voice. T nodded.
"Yep! You got it!" T exclaimed, embracing Rin like a proud parent. Rin squirmed within the grasp, not sure of the physical contact due to the pair not having truly known each other very well, or at all, and he was honestly rather picky with those who he shared his company with. He blinked in surprise as he realized that his soar throat, aching muscles, and upset stomach seemed to dissipate, his muscles releasing their tension as a result as he relaxed slightly. T pulled away with a grin, sitting on Rin's bed.
"What did you just do?" Rin asked, sounding breathless. T waved him off dismissively and with a wave of his arm.
"Nothing much, stop asking me things like that. So interrogative." T told. His eyes slowly locked onto the slowly moving tail that connected to Rin's spine, eyes glossy. Then, suddenly, a broad smile stretched over his face. He pulled Rin closer to him, wrapping a wing around him.
"Now, because I like you and want to teach you things,-" he began, lifting a hand and ghosting over the tail, causing an odd tingle to Rin up Rin's spine.
"How 'bout I teach you about your tail?"
