Rin lay, his back against the cement roof, purring contently as his pillow played with his hair, humming to the tune that came from both of their earplugs, one piece being in one ear of each person. His head rested comfortably in Dan's lap, eyes closed as he enjoyed the calm, soothing feeling of each stroke. Once again, the canvas of stars hung above them, being illuminated in part by the large full moon. By that time, everyone else had long since ventured off to rest, but this had become a tradition for the pair. The events of the last week loomed almost as heavily as the weight of the constant surveillance the other students incidentally gave. Because of this, the pair hadn't gone hunting since the weekend, nor had they done much more than meet in physicality during the hours of the night.

Unbeknownst to the both of them, they were not, in fact, alone.

-Earlier That Evening

"I still don't get it, what could possibly make you so interested in the guy? He's a dumbass." Bon told, flipping a yellowed page of the ancient tome. Shima frowned at the response, although this was not noticed as neither of the others were truly watching, nor were they paying attention other than their meager responses.

"He barely talks, he sits by himself, he knows how to use a gun and sword, and he's never around outside of the classes, doesn't that seem the least bit suspicious?!" Shima asked exasperatedly. Bon hummed but didn't otherwise respond.

"I kinda agree with Bon, Shima, there's really nothing special about the guy. He's ambitious, I guess, but he's only ever reliable in battle, and let's, be honest, how often will we need that?" Konekomaru asked. There was a pause before he continued. He sighed before speaking, closing his eyes and allowing his included muscles to relax slightly, causing his head to dip downwards.
"I just don't get why you're so interested. He's funny on occasion, but otherwise, he's a recluse." He said.

"And he's awkward, to boot," Bon added, still not looking up.
"Frankly, I don't think he even knows what's socially appropriate and what isn't. He just doesn't care." Shima scowled at these words, but sighed, standing. The others looked at him, Bon with a bemused look and Konekomaru with concern.

"I planned to head out to see Shiemi." He explained. He checked the alarm clock, the time changing just as he did so, another minute having passed. He waved to his roommates, turning his back to them and walking out.
"I'll be back later." He explained.

"Alright..." Bon's response came, though it was slow and unsure.

"Make sure not to stay out too late." Konekomaru reminded. Shima chuckled lightly.

"Alright, I won't." He agreed, before leaving the room and its two occupants behind.

Shiemi fidgeted anxiously with her shirt, awaiting the arrival of her fellow classmate. When the pinkette finally arrived, she smiled, both relief and a childlike cheerfulness bleeding into her features. She stood quickly, moving to meet him halfway in the dark hallway.

"I was starting to think you weren't going to come!" She said with a bright smile, her eyes brightly lit despite the low illumination.

"I'm only a minute or so late." Shima reminded, causing Shima to giggle sheepishly.

"I might have come a bit early..." She explained, a light, embarrassed blush collaring her cheeks. Shima guessed that she was downplaying how long she had been awaiting his arrival at this predetermined location, which was an area near the end of one of the lower hallways.
