Rin eyed the other person curiously, making observations concerning their exterior appearance. Unlike Rin, this person had no tail. They were shorter, but only slightly, showing that he was a a year or two younger than himself. His hair was a dark natural black, but there was a large patch that was white, an odd jagged difference between where the two colors met. His eyes were blue, similarly to Rin's, but they were a lighter shade, as well as less vibrant. He was slightly scrawny with a slim waist and hips. He wore a dark grey jacket over a white short sleeve, light blue jeans acting as his pants, all in all, his clothing was quite forgettable.
He realized after a moment that he was also being observed, the other person's eyes scanning up and down his body for a few moments longer before resuming eye contract, giving him an awkward smile.
"Hi, I'm-" he began but was quickly interrupted by an enthusiastic Taima, who grabbed the other person around the shoulder with one hand in a slight hug.
"This is Dan!" He interrupted loudly, giving him a tight squeeze, the boy wheezing for a few moments, before releasing him. He gasped loudly, dramatically so. Taima was next to Rin now, giving him the same treatment.
"And this,-" he squeezed tighter for a moment, before releasing abruptly.
"Is Oku!" Taima exclaimed. Elkan had come up behind Rin, fastening a collar to his throats from behind. It was red, small metal studs adorning it, and that same blue gem was connected to a string, being secured fashionably by two more strings that hung loosely on either side.
"Gah! Hey, what is this, a dog collar?!" The other person exclaimed, a matching collar having been secured onto him by Taima. Taima didn't respond, merely patted his head.
"Good boy."
-
Rin filled with his new addition, finding himself unable to remove it.
"Just give it up already, you've been at it for a good ten minutes now." His new partner told. He rolled his eyes, blowing at his white bangs.
"So?!" Rin responded, now moving onto the gem, fiddling with the blue stone and noticing it to give off a slight glow.
"So...." Dan drawled, as if waiting for Rin to figure it out on his own. When Rin did not respond with the explanation, Dan continued, his voice flat.
"If it was going to come off, it would have already." He stated blatantly. When no response was given, he sighed, leering back.
"Nice chat." He stated sarcastically, placing his hands behind his head as he looked upwards. Before them was a horrifying and yet gorgeous display of a lava-live material flowing downwards as far as the eye could see, editing a harsh glow that penetrated through the mist of shadows. Multiple structures of a dark crystalline material jutted out, as if they were inside of an enormous anthill or a similarly designed structure. Rin looked over the edge of the ledge, peering through the dark mist and to the ever moving beings bellow. Their colors varied greatly, as did their shapes, but they too were symbolic of a hive of busy ants.
"So, what are you, anyways?" Rin asked finally, giving up on removing the collar. It looked fashionable and presentable, at least.
"You can't be human if you're here." He added, an explanation of the perplexed look he had been given. Dan leaned forwards, leaving his comfortable and relaxed position, and knit his brow slightly, not in a confused manner, but in a way that almost resembled mirthless amusement.
"Depends on who you ask." Dan replied. He paused, sighing and closing his eyes, and continued.
"Master-err, well, Taima, told me I wasn't a 'hapha' anymore, that I'm one of the 'reformed'. Sans told me that what I am doesn't matter, but he classified me as a 'Lower Ranking Demonic Entity'. I used to be human." He responded, almost somber.
"Then I wasn't, and now I'm here." He concluded. Rin, being as socially awkward and misaligned to other's emotions as he was, failed to understand the feelings of the other person, only that he was upset.
