Rin ran through the forest, making haste to find the lantern Yukio had described. He wondered if he would be able to find it, or if it was out of his range and within that of someone else. Still, he pushed on, this being easy due to the enjoyment he got out of the task. What could he say? It was fun.

As he made his way, the task slowly deteriorating into boredom, his mind slowly trickled away to the meeting he had held prior to the beginning of the search.

-

Yukio quirked an amused brow at his brother's antics, amused and mildly perplexed as to why he was treating his weapon-the origins of which he failed to recall-with such dignity and respect. He did not ask, he might later, bit he had tasks to do before he could send out the children into the forest, and those took priority.

Rin's eyes swept back towards Mr. Himura, his pupils contracting for a moment as unbridled fury threatened to overtake him. He calmed quickly, reminding himself that he needed evidence before e could do anything, he needed to know for absolute certainty that this person was who he thought him to be. Perhaps spying was in order? That would have to wait until after this event, of course, but he was confident in his abilities. Stealth would be easy.

His eyes returned to the weapon he clutched gently within his grasp, a slightly damp cloth in the other, and he returned to his previous activity of gently polishing the pistol-an activity Dan had admitted to enjoy and Rin had taken to making into a routine before and after most all potential battles. He was approached by a nonchalant Shura, her hands resting behind her head as she did so. She sat down, plopping onto his log of a chair, before speaking.

"I know what you are." She said suddenly, although her time reflected the way she had drawn herself near. Rin's eyes widened in surprise.

"Don't react." Dan told. Rin's eyes hardened, refraining from nodding to show his understanding to instead look Shura in the eyes dead on. He forced his pupils to remain the same, not allowing them to contract. It felt....unnatural to suppress, but he managed.

"Oh?" He asked calmly, once again returning to his activity.
"And what would that be?" He continued, not looking up. Shura lifted a cold bottle, replete of water adorning its chilled surface. They were out of earshot from everyone else, for they were busy preparing for the upcoming event, just as Rin had been.

"You're the son of Satan, am I right?" She asked. Rin froze, the tho feeling of anger bubbling within him. He forced himself to continue, but his voice came out strained when he replied.

"I am the son of Father Fujimoto." He said acidly. Shura was taken aback by his time and words, but her eyes softened as her posture relaxed again. There was silence as she pointed the bottom of her bottle upwards, gulping down the remaining contents of the fluid, an excuse to not respond right away. She lifted it from her mouth after the flow had stopped, allowing the remaining drops to fall into her gullet, and then went silent.

"Fujimoto was a fool." She breathed finally. Rin glanced at her, bewildered. She sneered.
"Settling down to raise kids that he had no connection to? Where the hell did that powerful exorcist who trained me go off to?" She hissed, her volume low. Rin hummed.

"Don't know, perhaps he had a change of heart? Doesn't matter." He tilted the pistol every which way, checking for imperfections in its shine. He concealed the weapon in its pouch, strapping it in for safe keeping. He rose from his spot, heading off towards his brother and the other students, for Yukio had just finished setting up a presentation of supplies for them to use. He stopped, his back turned towards her.
"Oh, and Professor?" He asked, his voice betraying nothing. He turned towards her, his pupils finally contracting into dangerous slits as he glared powerfully at the woman before him.
"Don't you ever insult him again." He growled. She stared at him in shocked surprise. A blink, and his eyes returned to normal, and Rin turned around again, walking away silently.

-

Rin's quick movements came to a halt as a scream erupted through the otherwise quiet forest, Shiemi had screamed.

-

Shiemi lay, hands protectively held above her head, partially covering her face as it pressed into the long blades of grass and soft dirt, large, demonic insects crawling over her form, their brethren quickly approaching in preparation for the feast. Large plants, alien in this habitat, decorated the area, destroyed into fragments of their former selves. It was a battle lost to the hundreds of punching, bitting mouths that quickly approached her greatly unprotected skin and flesh, clearly anticipating what was to come. Their foresight failed to foresee the blue blaze that blasted itself towards them, incinerating them by groups far greater than mere dozens.

A symphony of sizzling and the scent of burning insect flesh and their hardened exteriors both bathed the air. The cause of the blue flames seemed to switch tactics, pulling out a gun of sorts. It cocked, aimed, and blasted. Bullets were not what came out, instead, a gush of high-pressure plasma, energized particles, shot out in a manner far more akin to a flame thrower or water gun. The many low-Class demons, who had made to close in around the being before them, perished instantly.

Rin cackled softly to himself, having enjoyed that little game, and watched as those who hadn't been struck by his flame reformed as small spirits, their true forms. They retreated, back to fight another day, their bodies having been perished.

"That was easy." Rin voice aloud. He jogged over towards Shiemi's prone form, sitting her up and checking for injuries.

"Too easy, stay on alert." Dan cautioned. Rin laughed, tearing out an odd insect that had tried to sneak past his sight, having aimed for Shiemi's nape. It was like a caterpillar but thicker, less friendly-looking, more of a parasite. Even more startling was the odd air it gave off, it was a demonic parasite, and it had ill intentions.

"Got it." He responded, still speaking aloud. He crushed the horrid creature within his grasp, offering the corpse over to Kuro, who gave it a quick sniff before devouring it. Kuro meowed appreciatively.

"Thanks, Oku!" Kuro chirped gleefully, pleased by the snack. Rin smiled, but then turned his attention towards the sound that had penetrated their conversation. A twig had snapped, and they were not alone. Rin turned, slowly, towards the sound, eyes cold and focused. Suguro stood a short distance away, eyes wide with bewildered and astonished surprise.

"Wh-what happened?"
