//A:N// update: the cover is nearly complete at this time, so-unless I get busy or procrastinate-it should be done by say...Monday. NOW ONTO THE STORY!!!

Rin eyed the shoe-like-mechanisms before him, skeptical.
"Roller blades?" He asked finally, turning the now declared roller blades so as to better view their design. They were mostly black, looking almost like a blank-if irregular-canvas, ready to be imprinted upon.
"Yep!" Taima chirped in response. He spun towards Dan, who had been eyeing the shoes with a mix of confusion and interest.
"He can fly," Taima began, spinning back towards Rin before pointing towards himself with his thumb.
"I can teleport and fly," he continued, preparing for his conclusion. He jabbed his pointer finger at Rin, whose brow was raised slightly, arching above its neighbor.
"And you can't do either of those things, so this is how you'll get around." He finished. Rin, however, still seemed skeptical. They were just too...plain. They looked bland, not to mention impractical. How was he to do his normal day-to-day tasks with these bully things on wherever he went?"So, what? Is he just supposed to carry them around like his phone or something?" Dan asked sarcastically, causing Taima to give a small laugh, spurring Dan on further.
"I'm pretty sure people will notice when they see them there, and they'll either ask questions or assume it to be a pal visiting." Dan continued. Rin snorted, trying to restrain his amusement, while Taima laughed openly. Dan grinned slyly as he enjoyed the reaction his antics had caused, before resuming in a more serious tone."Seriously though, how're we doing this?" Dan asked. Taima, still smiling, waved off his concern.
"They'll appear with a simple transformation. It's a real simple trick that one, he should be able to pull it off no problem." Taima dismissed. He thought for a moment, a grin splitting his face wider, and he tapped the pendent of Rin's collar.
"Boop" he spoke childishly, the gem glowing as a response. Both of the roller blades glowed for a moment, a new design that hadn't been there before arriving upon their surface, as well as two small gems of a deeper blue on each lateral malleolus and medial malleolus-where the bony surfaces of the ankle would be.
"Now, they're sinked!~" Taima sang. He pushed them back into Rin's arms, eyeing the boy for a few moments, before pulling both the halfbreed and the reformed halpha into a hug.
"Oh! You two are sooo cute!" He exclaimed excitedly. Rin, by now used to this behavior, laughed at the action before hugging the arm that held his throat and shoulder area captive."Taima, you're weird."

Taima watched the pair, pride in his eyes, as they readied for their first night of tracking and hunting-neither of them had yet to figure out a short, catchy term for their job-and both seemed fairly excited over the idea. For Rin, it was an excuse to release his pent up energy and aggression, not to mention test out what he could do. For Dan, it was a form of releasing lent up energy as well, but it was also a call back to days of a fairly recent past, likely not having more than a month or two between the life he had taken for granted and the life he now lived, and he was excited over getting to return to what little of his life had been even remotely "normal".
Dan's body changed, two rings of energy having passed over him starting his midsection. The colors of his hair-a light black and a silvery white-swapped themselves with each other. His skin changed to a more pale tint, almost pasty, and his eyes turned from their previous normal blue to a vibrant green. His clothing had also undergone a transformation, being consumed by the rings and replaced with more skin-tight attire that clung to his figure, which had also slimmed down, becoming more like that of a trained fighter rather than the slightly more average and less battle-ready form he had normally had.
