The river moved at a steady pace, pooling off into separate streams and ponds. Crickets chirped, conversing amongst themselves randomly from the longer blades of grass that surrounded the banks that acted as a barrier to the flowing liquid. There was a bridge above, on which a man, silhouetted by sunlight, stood. He was moving, lifting up a larger rolled up mat over the railing, and pushed it off. With a splash, the mat made contact, sinking into the cool depths of the river.
A white car stopped behind the man, a door opening and allowing him entry, driving away once the door had closed once again.

Yukio returned to the shared dorm, finding it absent of his brother's presence. This was odd, as Yukio had only arrived a few minutes past noon, but perhaps Rin had gone off to lunch early or decided to spend time with those friends of his he had mentioned earlier that day. He decided to check rather than assume, bringing up his phone and dialing Rin's number. It rang, a loud vibrating sound following from Rin's desk. He had left his phone.
It looked as though Rin had written something before he had left, a pencil having been placed on his desk after being borrowed from Yukio's desk, but if there had been an intention of writing a paper, it had never been acted out, or perhaps it had blown from the breeze the open window gave. Yukio frowned, brow furrowing in confusion, as he wondered why his brother would have left his phone. Had he forgotten it? Why would he have been in such a rush?
Yukio shrugged, decided that, perhaps Rin had merely forgotten it, assuming that he had it in his pocket and not checking. Yukio reached into his own pocket, taking out his wallet and checking the supply of cash. He had told Rin to go out to eat as an apology for his recent behavior, but now Yukio wished to eat out as well. Who knew, maybe he would see Rin there.
The moment he had left, the pitter patter of an uninvited visitor continued, the soft sound echoing throughout the rooms.

A feline, large with dark fur, twin tails, a horns, dove into the water, fishing out that which had been tossed into the lake's depths. Kuro dragged the bumpy mat out, releasing it and shrinking back to his smaller size, beginning to claw and meow at the bindings he could not tear away. Thankfully, he was heard by someone who had been nearby.
"I swear, there was a huge splash! And then there was the cat-" once voice told, his footsteps being accompanied by those of another.
"That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard you say, and that's saying something." A second voice retorted. Kuro's head snapped into the direction of the voices, his brow furrowing for a moment. Then, without a second more of hesitation, he began meowing with new vigor.
"What's-what they?" The second voice began, taking notice of the feline before them.
"Some cat?" The first voice asked. Rin felt tried to lift his head, tried to call out, but his lungs were full of water and his body only just beginning to free itself of the numbness that had overtaken him. In the end, all he could muster was a mere gurgle.
"Holy shit..." the first voice muttered, horror touching them, as they realized what was inside of the mat. He seemed to turn to the other person, a look of surprise, followed by understanding. One of them, Rin failed to know which one, approached his still body. All Rin could do was litter his eyelids. Everything was blurry, his vision poor and unfocused, but he realized that his head was within ten confines of the mat. The sound of something tearing came, as well as a slight pressure, as the mat and its bindings were sliced cleanly down the middle. The second person spoke to the first, his voice being the one in front of Rin, the first voice coming from just behind him. His eyes gazed blankly, far more than just half lidded, at nothingness. His mind, of all things, felt numb.
"He's got a pulse, its' weak, but it's there." The second person said, the pressure that had been applied to Rin's wrist releasing not a moment afterwards.
"You wouldn't happen to know CPR, would you?" The second voice asked. There was silence, during which the other person shook their head.
"Damn it. Well, guess there's no helping it, I'll call 911, you watch our friend." The second voice continued. His feet crunched over the small stones and grass, signaling to his slight relocation. Rin sat, unblinking, when something odd happened. It translated as if it were a pulsation, and yet it was no way defined as this in any term Rin might have thought possible, at least, not for humans. His eyes widened, his body turning and falling back to the ground, and he curled into a ball."What they-! He's moving! He's not dead! Hey, dude, get over here!" The first voice called, watching in a mix of awe and confusion at what was before him. Rin's hands tightening around the cloth of his chest and throat, face turning a slight blue, veins uplifted from the skin as they filled themselves with demonic life fluid. Then, for the second time that day, Rin became racked with coughs, the liquid being forced from his lungs rapidly, pooling about around him in sloppy splatters of puddles that soon joined into one.
"What the fuck?!" The second voice demanded. He grabbed Rin's shoulder, shacking him desperately.
"Hello, kid? Can you hear me?" He asked desperately. Water no longer came up in large splashes, the remainder of the fluid nor dribbled slowly from his mouth. When the majority had emptied, he slowly lifted his head, looking finally into the eyes of whomever was before him. Then, without realizing it, he sprung forwards, clinging onto the stranger like a frightened child.
"Okay, physical contact." The person said, shocked at the embrace. He awkwardly patted Rin's back, uncomfortable as the water seeped into his attire.
"There there." He tried, looking over towards his companion."Hey, kid, mind telling me and my friend what just happened?" The first voice asked, his tone kind and caring.
"I-" Rin was cut off by coughs, water still tickling his throat. Perhaps speaking was not the wisest thing to do.
"Can't speak?" The first person asked. Rin nodded slowly, beginning to shiver as a breeze swooped in.
"Don't strain yourself." The second voice said, turning to his friend.
"I already called an ambulance, he should be fine." Rin's eyes widened. If he was brought into a hospital, he would be asked questions. If he was asked questions, Yukio would find out. Did he want Yukio to find out? No. He needed to get away, now. A feline rubbed against his side, seemingly ignoring the wetness that caked Rin, chilling him tot he very bone."You're warm" a voice echoed, childish and touched with worry. Rin caught his surprised, preventing it from showing.
'I don't feel like it.' Rin tried to respond, but was unsure of whether or not his message was delivered. The feline moved to his lap, resting his weight there and beginning to purr contently.
