-Looking back, he realized that he should have paid more attention to the lesson, or at least have asked of the "training camp" his brother had mentioned.
"So, why is everyone coming to our dorm, again?" Rin asked. His eyes flickered over towards where he could see the silhouette of Dan, the faint glow his body gave being the main thing that made him noticeable at all, and nodded, signaling for him to return to their private dorm. Dan nodded back, turning around and walking away.
"We're the only ones who live here, we can be as loud as we want during the camp." Yukio responded. Rin nodded, understanding this part of the instructions.
"Hey, Yukio?" Rin asked, deciding to prod slightly deeper into something that had been bothering him. Ukobach had never shown up, no sign of him-nor any plans he might have had-had been discovered during both Rin's and Dan's searches. He had simply disappeared.
"Have you seem Ukobach?" He asked finally. Yukio didn't seem to respond for a few moments, as if either startled by the question or confused at the reasoning behind the topic being brought up."I have not, why?" Yukio answered finally. Rin lowered his head slightly, allowing his bangs to cover his face from where he sat.
"About a week ago, he went missing, and I haven't been able to find him. I thought you might know where he was." Rin explained, the partial lie burning as it exited his throat.
"Wait, then who's been making our breakfasts and dinners?" Yukio asked, confused. Rin gave him a flat stare.
"Do I really need to help you figure that one out?" Rin asked dryly, alarming Yukio with the sudden attitude change.
"What is going on with you?" Yukio questioned, brow creased with worry and concern at his older twin. He might not have noticed it when it had first begun, he had realized that Rin had been changing, his behavior and mood seeming to move back and forth for seemingly no reason. It confused Yukio, and he had begun to conclude that Rin was unstable, but at least he hadn't shown himself to be hostile, and he hadn't discovered Rin to have partaken in any fights since the move-other than their occasional arguments.
"Good morning." Shima drawled as he approached the dormitory building, being accompanied by the rest of their fellow classmates, some of whom gaping openly at the dorm.
"What is this place and why does it look like a haunted hotel?" Bon asked, being the head of the group. Rin hadn't realized the place to hold a creepy appearance and thus blinked confusedly as he eyed each of his fellow classmates' surprised expressions.
"This is our dorm, what else would it be?" Rin asked bluntly.
"I kinda agree with him, Okumura-kun. This place looks pretty creepy." Kamiki told, turning her attention towards Yukio. Rin noticed that she was not carrying any of her things, instead, they were held by Shiemi, who stood just a bit behind her and just off to the right.
"Couldn't we go somewhere nicer?" She asked nervously."Sorry, this is the most practical option we have." Yukio responded, turning around and beginning to lead them to a room on the second level, some sort of lounge. From there, he had everyone begin with classwork, that begin what they did for the rest of the evening.
-
Rin stretched, standing from his seat on the ground beside the short yet long table, relieved that the in-class essay was finally over with. That had been more schoolwork he had ever done at once in his entire work, more lessons and papers he hoped he would ever do in such a short span of time again.
"Alright, I'm going outside and enjoying the night, see you guys later." Rin told, walking out of the room. As he went to leave, he overheard Kamiki speak to her friend, Paku, of her desire to enjoy the baths the building-just as any other in the district-provided.
"Tomorrow, we will be rising at six o' clock and are taking a test on what we learned today." Yukio announced, causing a few of the lazier students-i.e. Rin-to groan in annoyance.
"You're a demon, you know that?" Rin told as he left the room, earning an eye roll at the ironic statement.
-
"Welp, that sucked." Rin said flatly as he plopped down beside Dan, who had been waiting patiently with Kuro, working on the lyrics to their first song. Dan grumbled, ripping the paper out of the journal and tossing it aside, where it joined a cluster of crumpled paper that had accumulated over the last few hours.
"Still nothing?" Rin asked, earning a nod in response."I just don't know what we should be going for!" Dan exclaimed, allowing himself to fall onto his back.
"I don't know much 'bout romance, nor do I care, I don't want something sex-based, I don't want to write country, I just don't know what to write!" Dan told, rolling onto his stomach to face Rin.
"I'm open to ideas." He pouted. Rin hummed for a moment, thinking, and then began strumming the strings of his guitar, which Dan had brought up when he had initially arrived.
"Nice melody." Dan complimented, causing a small smile to form on Rin's face."Thanks, though it doesn't have any lyrics, yet." Rin responded.
"Why not something about the fact that we're surrounded by potential enemies and we're almost killed?" Rin offered offhandedly, causing Dan to chuckle at his nonchalantness regarding the subject."Doesn't that sound kinda emo?" Dan asked. Rin shrugged, not caring, and plucked a few of the strings again, allowing a melody to form.
"Speaking of things that are depressing, those bracelets I bought are-""Gone." Rin finished.
"When I went back, I couldn't find them, which either means that the guy who jumped me has them, or that he threw them out." Rin continued. Dan frowned, displeased, but nodded in understanding."I think we need a drummer." Dan said bluntly.
"I asked Taima, he said he wouldn't mind playing with us as an honorary member, the same with Nico-" Rin offered.
"I mean we need another member of our band, you dork." Dan interrupted, rolling his eyes.
"Two people aren't exactly a band, you know." He added."We can ask Taima if we can speak to the next person he tries to recruit or something." Rin continued to offer.
"Taima's looking into the recent attacks, Elkan's looking into a recruit." Dan stated.
"Then, we'll talk to Elkan." Rin corrected.
"Alright." Dan agreed, sitting back up and glancing upwards, the stars twinkling above them.
"We're not hunting tonight, are we?" He asked."Nope, too risky." Rin answered easily. Dan sighed, mildly annoyed. For a few minutes, they said nothing, merely listened as Rin played the strings of his guitar with renewed expertise. Suddenly, a chill ran down Rin's spine, chasing him to pause in his song, two twin screams followed, sounding from what Rin assumed was the girl's bathing room, disturbing the remainder of the peaceful moment and shattering it into pieces. It was not one of surprise, but of instinctual fear.
"The hell?!" Rin exclaimed, rising and standing in one fluid motion, Kuro falling to the ground, as did his guitar, due to the movement. Dan grit his teeth, eyes flashing to a green hue opposed to their usual blue one, his body glowing in a flash of light as his body changed into the weapon Rin had chosen the week before. Rin's hand closed around the pistol, cocking it, as if it was in need of loading, before running towards the yells.
