//A:N// Note: from now on, assume that the characters specified as demonic are speaking in the previously mentioned language whenever there is a chapter that fails to feature human contact. I am too lazy to make the symbols for all of the dialogue in this chapter. Enjoy!

Rin, Taima, Veeta, and someone Rin failed to recall the name of all stood in the kitchen, illuminated by electrical lighting. This was the main kitchen, of course, and the witching hour steadily approached, as seen by the clock that floated, as if defying gravity itself.

"Trust me on this; Oku is the best cook you'll ever meet!" Taima ensured the group, swinging a bag around from his shoulder and allowing it to rest atop the counter. Inside was a large plastic container, the lid being a cherry red whilst the body of the plastic was translucent, clouded but almost see through. This translucent gave way to the color of the ground up material within it, which was a variation of vibrant reds and darker shades.

"Even compared to Diana?" Veeta asked smugly, a sly grin on her features.

"He's the best pre-reformed cook you'll ever meet!" Taima corrected himself, though his words still held their previous excitement. Rin glanced towards the large plastic container, eyes flicking over it like a small blaze.

"That the stuff?" Rin asked curiously, reaching out over the hard surface of the counter.

"Yep! This is the secret ingredient!" Veeta responded cheerfully, popping the lid open excitedly and slipping one of her fingers into the paste, bringing it back out and placing her digit into her mouth for a quick taste.
"And it's sooooooo gooooooood!" She continued. She wore rubber cloves and a plastic apron, stained with red smears of the substance. In fact, upon closer inspection, bits of the red was speckled on each of the three. There was a smell, too, metallic. Familiar. It was almost....almost like blood.

"It's a really good batch, so of course it tastes awesome!" The greenette, the third person in the room, said happily, their tail nub licking up and down excitedly as they bounced, almost like a rubber ball.
"Veeta, you did reeeeaaally good with the harvest, I need to try out some of those techniques of yours!" He-yes, Rin realized, it was a he-exclaimed. This person was...childish. Excitable. It was no wonder why Taima liked him.

"So, Oku, you like to bake?" Veeta asked, swooping in for another taste but being blocked by Taima, the two falling into a game of swatting at each other's hands, almost like the mighty battle of two weeks old kitten mock-fight.

"I actually normally cook, but it can't be so different, right?" Rin asked, grabbing and taking the large container from the beneath the two sibling's ongoing battle.

"Yeah, I mean no, I mean-" Nico, the greenette, tried to respond.

"It's different, but not very, is what he's trying to say." Veeta cut in.

"Yeah" Nico affirmed. Rin shrugged, smiling.

"Then I have nothing to worry about."

It was a concert, Rin realized, or something like one. Two bands played at opposite sides of a large warehouse, the location of which being somewhere a few towns over from the large, immense campus Rin frequented to.

"We have to go sign in." Elkan explained to Rin, as well as a few others who had come along with them. Elkan turned to Sans, Nico, Yuki, and Twilight.
"We're taking you five down!" He promised, competitiveness clearly evident in his voice. Rin raised a brow, recounting the people that Elkan had addressed. He only saw four.

"In your dreams, princess!" Twilight shot back, radiating with competitive spirit just as Elkan had.

"Sparky's got spunk tonight!" Veeta sang, her wings giving a cute little flutter.

"I'm not-!" Twilight began to retort, being interrupted by the tallest of their group.

"Come on, sparky." Sans said, Nico snickering at the reoccurring nickname.

"Fuck you!"

-

"What're they doing?" Rin questioned finally.

"A battle of the bands" Mason answered simply, sounding as if slightly amused at the still new other, who new next to nothing of their society by comparison. Mason looked fairly normal, so much so that it might be easy to mistake him for a human, but there was an aura about him that spoke in volumes to those who had the capability of sensing that energy. The amount of energy was far from impressive, he didn't seem to be a fighter, but he was most defiantly not an average human.

-

Rin threw his hands up into the air, cheering alongside his companions-most of whom he knew little or nothing of-as the two bands had just reached the climax of their joint songs. The bands to be playing were those of Rin's musically diverse companions, though now he was curious as to whether or not other people he knew shared such interest, and if they would mind helping him relearn how to play the instrument he had once played.

"They're really good!" Dan told Rin, trying to speak over the loud music. Rin didn't bother attempting to respond, merely closed his eyes, allowing the music to whelm his senses further, and cheered on.

-

Elkan, Taima, Veeta, Twilight, Yuki, Nico, and Sans all walked back together, laughing and teasing and conversing amongst each other as they did so. The next band was preparing their gear, setting up the heavier equipment while their prepared band mates ontroduced themselves the other crowd.

"Do they have these often?" Rin asked Yuki, who was the closest person to him at that moment. The blonde nodded, closing his vibrant amber eyes.

"Yep, pretty cool, right?" Yuki responded, opening his eyes again. The orbs were bright amidst the darkness of the streets, glowing like a warm ember. His eyes, they were amazing. They were lik those of Elkan's but less experinced, they held an odd innocence within them. Yuki raised a brow at Rin's odd staring, tilting his head to the side after a few moments passed.
"Why are you staring at me?" He asked, causing Rin to blink as he snapped out of his stupor. A small tint of pink rose to his cheeks. This was not a crush, merely embarrassment over the uncomfortable haze he had fixed upon the other.

"Sorry, your eyes are just really cool to look at." Rin apologized sheepishly. Twilight poked his head in, wrapping an arm around Yuki's shoulders.

"Aren't they? I always tell him 'your eyes are fucking amazing' but he never listens! It's adorable!" Twilight laughed, being shoved playfully by the younger of the two supposed brothers. Twilight's eyes held a similar magnificence to Yuki's, only they lacked the innocence. They had seen hardship and pain that Yuki had not. Rin realized that all of there eyes did, everyone who had come. There was an almost haunted look in them, some sort of looming fear or memory or pain, some injustice that had never been rightened. Twilight's eyes glowed a slightly brighter hue, his grin growing slightly.
"I guess Yuki's aren't the only ones you,re interested in, eh Oku?" Twilight asked, releasing his brother's smaller form so that they could continue walking and catch back up with the slowed group.
"Well, because you are so chivalrous, I think it's only fair to let you know that your eyes aren't that bad, either." Twilight turned back to face Rin, a small grin on his face.
"They look pretty damn neat, especially with that contrast between your pupils and irises. Red on blue? Tell me that isn't awesome!" Twilight said, wings flaring for emphasis, but there was something odd concerning their motion. One wing was ever so slightly slower than the other, something that only the keenly observant watcher might notice. It was subtle, but a difference was there. Red and blue, Twilight had said, what a contrasting color in his gaze indeed.
