It's been a week since the initial meeting of Rob and Kenya as they are back in the support group for the next meeting. "OK, we are going to try an exercise, where we will communicate verbally and non-verbally. Each of you will be working in pairs". Dr Harper instructs. Everyone pairs off and Rob and Kenya work together. "What we are going to do is have one person respond non verbally and the other verbally. Rob, Kenya, you two can go first and no throwing items on each other". Rob and Kenya look at the doctor. "I heard what happened after I left last week and I don't want to discharge anyone from this group, but you can't throw things at people or cross their personal boundaries".
The two agree and face each other. "Rob, I didn't properly introduce myself last week. I'm..." Kenya looks into Rob's eyes and freezes in place. "I'm..." Kenya stammers while Rob looks on confused. Kenya becomes speechless.
"It looks like I still have this effect on people. It's OK, Kenya. I know you didn't expect this. I mean it's natural to make a fuss over me, but damn, I didn't think it would take you this long". Her expression changes and she glares at him. "Uh-oh". "That's not what I had in mind! You two can sit down." Dr. Harper continues the exercise for the rest of the meeting. The meeting concludes and Kenya bolts out the room.
Rob looks up to see Kenya already gone, while Dr. Harper approaches him. "Rob, can I talk to you for a moment?" . "OK". The two gentleman walk to the other side of the room. "I understand you like to make things lively, but you do need to take this group and what we learn here seriously. This is not the time or place to become a class clown, because not only you deny yourself from the true healing you need, the other members are deterred from what they need as well". "I understand. I'm sorry, I didn't plan on doing that" Rob says. "I don't know what is going on with you and Kenya, but can you two at least try to be civil when you're here?". Rob nods. They finish talking and Rob leaves, while Kenya is in the restroom, drying her hands. She leaves and goes to the parking lot.
"Unbelievable! He's just as cocky as ever!" Kenya tells herself. She drives off, going straight home. After getting inside, Kenya retrives her journal and starts to write.

I should have seen this coming. Rob is not really looking to start over. He still thinks women want him, just like the rest of the pretty boys I run into. They feel the world owes them just for existing. What really struck a cord with me was him coming by last weekend to tell me how far he's fallen after sending 'I'm Sorry' flowers and wanting me to keep a promise for him. Now he decides to embarrass me in group therapy?
He is such an asshole!
Yet, when I looked into his eyes, I freeze. I don't know why I did that. Something about those green eyes tell more than what he's putting out there but he won't say. It doesn't matter, he won't tell me anything about it. I'm not what he would want on his arm.
There is a knock on her door. "Kenya? Are you there?" Rob calls. Kenya doesn't answer him and Rob slides a note under her door before going back into his apartment. Kenya picks up the note and reads it. 'Can we talk? Here's my number - Rob'. His number is written on the bottom of the note and Kenya throws it in the trash. "It's too late for talking, you blew it".
The next morning, Kenya wakes up, still feeling upset over what happened last night. She gets ready to go to work. As she walks out, she sees Rob's door is locked and wonders if she should at least say 'Hi' before leaving, but changes her mind. "He's the one who's done me wrong. Rob will just have to come to me, instead".
At work, Kenya goes to start her assignment immediately. She was so into her work, she didn't see or hear Jordana call her. "Kenya? Are you okay?". "Oh, sorry! I kinda got caught up in this assignment". "I can tell" Jordana says, looking at the stack of printouts. "What happened with you?". "Dana, this new guy in the support group is getting on my nerves. He was there last week, too, asking me when's the last time I've had sex, then this week he decides to make me look like a fool". Kenya goes into detail of what happened.
"Either this new guy's a total creep or he really likes you" Jordana says. "What? This is not the third grade, if a grown man likes me, he should tell me, not do crazy stuff like that". The two ladies change the subject. "So, have you met your new neighbor yet?". Kenya remembers her promise to Rob, even if she's still mad at him. "No, it's odd. They're gone before I leave, but come back when I'm asleep. They are probably traveling for business or something" . "I don't know, that's more than twice the time we work everyday. When do they get any sleep?".
Before they answer the question, another delivery person arrives. "Hello, which of you ladies is Kenya Frasier?". "I am". "Can you sign for this? The guy outside won't stop hassling me until I deliver this to you". Kenya takes the clipboard and signs it, while the delivery guy gives the package. "Thanks, so where's this guy you said was out here? I don't see anyone". The delivery guy turns to see no one out the door. "Wha-? He was just out here! At least he gave me some money to do this. You ladies have a good day". He leaves and the ladies go to open the package. "I'm starting to get jealous of these gifts you're getting. What did he send you today?" Jordana asks. Kenya opens the package and finds a diamond sunflower brooch with another note. 'Please come see me, I really need to talk to you'. "Your secret admirer has some expensive taste". Kenya holds on to the brooch and they keep work until the end of the day.
Kenya walks into the parking lot to get in her car. "Why have you been avoiding me?" Rob asks her, appearing suddenly. Kenya screams. "Rob! What the hell are you doing here?!". "I wanted to talk to you, but you won't return any of my messages. Why haven't you called me?" A flash of light hits Rob's face and a security guard approaches him. "Excuse me, sir, what are you doing here? You don't work in this building!". "There's no problem here, I'm just talking to a friend". "I heard this lady scream from the other side of this lot, that's a problem". Before he can respond, the delivery guy appears. "That's the guy who kept pressing me to deliver a package to this lady! I got doc'ed an hour's pay because of you!" he tells Rob. "I paid you to make the delivery, so that should make up for it!". "Well sir, people were getting concerned about someone sending packages here without a sender's name or address and you're acting erratically. I'm about to call the police!". Rob panics. "No, that's alright, there's no harm done".
"Are you sure, miss? We can arrange one of our guards to follow you, so you get home safely" the guard suggests. "That's OK, thank you". "No problem, and you..." he turns to Rob "...got lucky. Now, leave the premises at once". Rob leaves the lot slowly, while Kenya drives off. After getting home, Kenya thinks about what happened and doesn't want Rob to get in any trouble, so she retrieves the note. She straightens the note and dials Rob's number.
The phone rings in Rob's apartment a few times and just as Kenya is about to hang up, she hears the receiver pick up. "Hello?" . "Hello? Rob?" . "Kenya, hi. I thought I wouldn't hear from you, like you threw away my number". Kenya sighs. "I can't imagine that happening. What was it you wanted to talk about?" . "Can you come over to my place tonight? I'll tell you about it" . "OK, give me about 5 minutes". "Great, I'll see you then. Bye". "Bye". Kenya hangs up and hears Rob's smile through the phone, making her smile too.
