The next morning couldn't come soon enough as the memories of last night's surprise visit are heavy on Kenya's mind. After spending a fun time with her family, a group of reporters ruin the after holiday occasion as they got home. "Home...Home! Oh my God! I forgot to call Mom and Dad!" Kenya exclaims. Last night's chaos was so random, Kenya forgot to tell her family they made it back. She gets out of bed and goes to get the phone, dialing their number, while Rob is still asleep. The phone rings once before it's picked up. "Hello?". "Kendra, it's me". "Kenya! Mom and Dad have been worried all morning! You were supposed to call them yesterday!" she says. Her mother comes by and sees Kendra on the phone. "Is that your sister?". Kendra nods and she takes the phone from her. "Kenya, what happened? Your father and I were worried sick!". "I'm sorry Mom. Something happened unexpectedly and I couldn't call you". "You mean all those reporters waiting at your apartment? Why were they there?".
Kenya was surprised that her family heard what happened so quickly. Apparently, some news station decided to make the ambush breaking news all over the major cities. "Who was that reporter Rob threatened?". "I don't know, Mom. We just saw them when we got to the door". "We just heard this isn't Rob's first time doing something like that. You should talk to him about this before you end things". "Mom, I'm not going to do that". "He just threaten to kill someone!". "Mom, he was trying to protect me!". "Like you are trying to protect him now. Why?" her mother asks. Kenya does not answer. "So, everything they said about him was true? You knew about all it it, didn't you?". Kenya still doesn't answer. "I can't believe you would put us all in danger!". Abdou overhears his wife on the phone. "What's going on?" he asks. "Kenya's boyfriend is trouble! Everything they said about him is true!". Abdou takes the phone and talks to Kenya. "Hello, Kenya. Your mother just said your brought a criminal to our house!". "Dad, he is not a criminal!" Kenya says. Rob wakes up to her shouting on the phone. "Kenya, who are you yelling at?". "He's over there, isn't he? Put him on the phone!" her father orders. "I'm not going to do that, so you can yell at him, Dad! I will not talk about this anymore!" she hangs up the phone.
"What was that all about?". "Rob, my family heard about the reporters coming here". Rob sighs. "My parents saw you threaten the reporter that tried to get in here and they said they heard you've done that before". Rob doesn't respond. "Is it true? Did you say that to someone else?". Rob nods his head and explains at the time someone accused him of stealing an item of his and the rest of the memory was clouded by him being high. Next thing he knew, he assaulted the man, then called to threaten him over the phone.
"Why would you do something like that?" Kenya asks. "I don't like people accusing me of something I didn't do". "That doesn't mean you threaten to kill someone!". "How is what you did any better? You hung up on your parents!" Rob points out. "Would you rather have them lash out at you through me? They think you are a criminal and I take up for you and this is how it turns out?! Why am I the bad guy?". "You're not, but you aren't a victim, either!". "You didn't think that when you slammed that guy into the wall! I'm not as weak as every other person wants to believe!". Rob gets frustrated. "You know, maybe I should go, this is getting too much". "Maybe you should...". Rob doesn't say anything and walks out.
This is not how Rob wanted to spend the holidays. How can they go from having such a great time to crashing and snapping at each other in 24 hours? Rob goes to his apartment and finds something to do to distract him, but it was no use. This is what he was afraid of happening. Constant surrounding of news media, endless questions and invasion of privacy. It's one thing he had to put up with all of this, but now it's not just him. Kenya's life has been exposed and the two are now back at square one. As bad as he feels, Rob couldn't help but think that Kenya should know by now he wouldn't want anything bad to happen to her, that if he can make it all go away he would do so. For right now, the two need to cool off and they can talk again tomorrow.
