Chapter 12.... Mia's Mistake

When I seen John his eyes looked like Scott's, those green eyes pierced my soul like his did. I know that Dave felt the same. I tried not to show how I really felt, because I felt a sense of danger. I'm probably overreacting, I should really settle myself, Scott is in jail for 25 years before he can even think about getting out. And even then they might not let him out. As we sat at the able I started to ask questions

"So who are your parents?" I asked

"I'm not sure, I have been in the foster care system since I can remember. I have no memory of my parents."

"Oh I am sorry to hear." I said

"Thanks." He said

"How long have you been here for?" Dave asked

"Since the beginning of the school year." He said

"How did you and Aurora meet?" Dave asked

"We have first period math together and I sat beside her, that's how we first met." He smiled

"Aurora your dad and I have to on a trip for a few days so you will be staying at Nick's house until we get back." I said to her

"Mamma can't auntie Mel come stay with me?" She asked

She didn't see Mel that much and my dad didn't come up much either. Mel, because she has a job and my dad because he is getting a little too old. I decided to cave into her pleas

"Okay I'll see if auntie Mel will come to visit." I said

She smiled and I loved it, dinner went on and I asked no more questions about John I don't want him to think I'm snooping around. I felt so sorry for the boy being in foster care. The night past, soon John's foster mom came to get him. Aurora walked him out and waited for him to leave, while they were out there they exchanged some words that I couldn't hear, and yes I'm snooping. He gave her a kiss, a short and sweet one, it reminded me of Dave and myself when we were younger. I smiled because my little girl has her first crush and he kissed her, okay maybe she is growing up too fast. She waved at him and headed back to the door, that is when I moved away from the door. She opened the door she stopped

"Is he your boyfriend?" I asked

"I'm not sure." She said

"When I come back we are having a talk young lady."

She gave me a horrified look, she knew what I was talking about, the birds and the bees talk that everyone has at one point in their lives. I tried not to laugh and she headed upstairs to go to bed. I looked over at Dave a d he did not say anything

"Night mamma." She said

"Night Aurora."

"Night daddy." She said

"Night Aurora." Dave said

She went to her room and that was that, she was out for the night and so were we. But I called Mel and she would be here just before Dave and I left. The next morning Dave and I woke up really early because we had to pack. We did our best to make sure we did not wake Aurora and we did a good job, she didn't wake until 9 and we were up at 6. We brought the suitcases down the stairs and left them there. I heard Aurora come down the stairs and that's when I appeared from the kitchen I smiled at her. She looked at me because I was all dressed up, only if she really knew why

"Good morning Aurora." I said with a smiled

"Good morning mamma, are you guys leaving today?" She asked

"Yes my dear your auntie Mel should be here soon, could you go her dressed for me please?" I asked

"Yes mamma."
