Chapter 14... I Found Your Dirty Little Secret
*Mia's Point Of View*
Dave and I were sitting on the couch waiting for Aurora and John to come down. Soon I heard them get up and walk down the stairs
"Good morning." Dave and I said
"Good morning." John and Aurora said
The sat down and we were watching the news, we were talking. We heard a woman start the breaking news and we all stopped talking
"We have breaking news coming from a small town that was shaken years by a man. Here is our live reporter Kate Watson. Kate."
"Hi Lana I'm here in the small town of Mathison, where just over 18 years ago a guy named Scott Ranson took his girlfriend, who will not be named, raped her and tried to kill her. He proved to be mental unstable, and he was put away on a many charges. He seemed to have a horrible family twist. But today he has been released with parole, he has proven to be mentally stable."
"Scott." I whispered
They showed a picture of Scott being released but he was still with police. He can't be out
"That's a shame, he shouldn't be out." John said
I was stunned and frozen. When I heard the woman on the news I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He shouldn't be out I know he had 25 years before he could even get parole. Why was he out now? Would he come find me, and take Aurora? Would he hurt her and me again? I didn't know that I was showing my emotions
"Is everything alright?" Aurora asked me
Dave cleared his throat and looked at Aurora when he said
"I know the girl who he did that to, she's one of my closest friends."
I nodded. He wasn't lying, I'm one of his closest friends but now I'm his wife, but I'm still one of his closest friends
"What a shame." John said
"Excuse me." I said
I got up and I gave them a weak smile then I left quickly to go up the stairs, Dave followed me. I went to our room and sat down on the bed and Dave knelt in front of me
"Mia it's okay."
"No it's not, what about Aurora?"
"You're going to have to tell her."
"I'm going to have to. But please call Jet." I said
He nodded and called from his cell phone. It didn't take too long for them to talk and Dave hung up the phone and turned to me
"He's in the area he'll be here soon." He said
We went downstairs, back into the living room and sat back down but John and Aurora were gone, maybe they went back upstairs. I sat there with Dave quietly as I waited for the door bell to ring. Soon it did, Dave and I got up and walked to the door. I opened to see Jet standing there, he looked older than ever before. He might be leaving the force soon, I gestured him in and he nodded, then came inside the house. We walked into the dinning room and I shut the doors that were there. We sat down at the table
"Why is he out?" I blurted
"Good behaviour and a better mental standing." Jet said
"It was three years ago that he chocked me. How is he better?"
"Mia I know you're upset that he is out but there is nothing I can do unless he breaks the law again. Or steps outside of his parole. You guys are under witness protection and we will do all that we can to make sure he will not find you."
