Borage Leaves: Helps nursing queens bring up their milk supply, used after they have kitted.

Parsley: This herb is used to stop the initial flow of milk in nursing queens. (After kits feed, a queen's milk still flows, and this herb is used to dry it up so it can be saved for later.)

Raspberry leaves: This herb is used to ease pain during a queen's kitting

Kitting: Kitting can be a painful process for mothers. Although poppy seeds are not advised to ease the pain of this process. Most of the work must be done by the mothers themselves but massaging the kit-mother's stomach can help the process. Remember to be careful, however, and not press too hard. Once a kit is born a medicine cat nips the sac, protecting the young so that it can breathe. If a kit doesn't breathe immediately a cat can lick its chest fur the wrong way to encourage it to breathe. Once a kit is breathing it should be placed beside its mother's stomach to feed and keep warm. A mother can be offered borage to help her milk come once the kits start feeding.
