In a late, summer night, a young man sat on the rooftop of his home looking up at the starry sky, wanting to take flight. But couldn't he could get caught and get into trouble with his parents.
He can't allow anyone to see him. Or his parents will kill him on the spot for disobeying them. It sucks being in the human world. All becasue his mother wanted him to be a typical teenage boy. But he was not an ordinary boy; he was different. Way different, than any human. He wasn't even from this world.
But what can he do, nothing? All he can do is find some entertainment, to pass the time before he starts school. High school, he will be surrounded by humans. How can humans think school is fun? School sounds so boring and dull.
"Master Luke, dinner is served," his butler, George said, Luke groaned and stood. He didn't like when George called him that.
"George," Luke climbed down and to the balcony. "I told you not to call me that. Luke is fine. You aren't here to serve me, only to watch over me."
"It's best to call you that," George said. "We can't risk alerting the humans. We must pretend."
Luke sighed. "Fine, but only call me that outdoors, not indoors." George nod.
Luke followed him downstairs to the dining room; it was lonely. It was him and George, and some maids. He wonders what this world will give him. What kind of adventure will lure him? He will soon find out.
A few blocks away, a girl sat on the couch watching tv and enjoying a delicious meal. Aside from that, she was marking things off her list of things she will need for school. It will be her last day of high school, and she wants everything to be perfect.
She plans on being more active and outgoing. But she doubts it. She likes staying out of trouble. It's much easier for her to stay away from rowdy students especially the popular ones, they are problematic.
"Elise!" Her mother yelled from the kitchen. "Don't forget, we are going uniform shopping, don't make any plans!"
"I don't have friends!" Elise yelled back.
"Oh," her mother peeked out from the kitchen. "You need to make friends this year. Elise, you can't be a loner all your life. Make some friends and find a boyfriend too."
"Mom," Elise sighed. "I don't need friends or a boyfriend to have fun.
"If you say so," her mother went back to the kitchen.
Elise didn't need friends; she could manage on her own. She has been a loner since she was small. And she can still keep it up, the less drama, the better her chances of graduating with straight A's and a clean record.
But why does she have the feeling of dread? Is something going to happen this year? She hopes not, becasue Elise wants nothing to do with terrible things.
She won't think about it, for now, she will concentrate on her school supplies.
Later that night Luke laid in bed fiddling with a coin that he had brought from the underworld. He misses his home and his room. Why was he the only one that had to go to school? Why can his brother or sister go too? It was unfair, but he won't argue with his parents any longer.
It was pointless; they always win the argument. Luke sighed and stared at the coin. This coin is the only thing he has to remind him of the good old days. Days he won't be able to enjoy.
Now that he is here, he wonders what of people he will be meeting? Perhaps he'll meet a pretty lad he can seduce. He will have to wait until school starts,
He smiled and set the coin back in the drawer. "Luke." He sat up and looked at the mirror. His mother stares back. "I just wanted you goodnight. And to see if you are doing alright?"
"I'm fine, mother," Luke said as he sat on the edge of the bed. "As you can see, I am happy."
"Don't be sarcastic," she said. "And I hope you are behaving and eating well. Have you gone out to explored?"
"No," he said.
"Luke," his mother looked at him with a stern look. "You need to go out and explore your surroundings. I don't want you to stay locked up in the house."
Luke groaned and sighed. "Fine, I will go out and explore, but don't think I will enjoy. The light of the day hurts me. Mother, you know the too much light, isn't good for me. I am barely getting used to all this brightness."
"I know," his mother sighed. "But endure it, this is the only year you will attend school. I should've had to send you a long time ago. But your father never made up his mind until now."
"Well, thank him for me," Luke said.
"I will," she smiled.
"Mom," Luke chuckled. "I was sarcastic."
"I know," she sighed. "Anyways I will let you sleep. Behave and don't stay coop up in your bedroom."
After saying his goodnights, he laid back down and sighed. The mirror is the only source of communication he has with his family. Without that, he would be out here without being able to talk to them.
There is no way he is going out to explore. He would rather stay in the house reading comic books and eating junk food. The junk food, manga, and comic books are the only things he likes in this world. For sure he told his mother he would go out. But he can pretend. She won't ever know.
Smiling, Luke yawned tomorrow he will spend his day in the house. There is also video games that keep him entertained, but not as much as the comics and manga.
Luke grinned as he fiddled with his snake bites, it was a good thing he took them off early. If he hadn't his mother would've had seen them and freak out. Piercings are something else that makes him happy. Since, they are a way to rebel against his parents, for sending him to school. Aside from the snake bites, he has one on his left eyebrow. It's not like his kind doesn't wear piercings, it's just that, his mother didn't want him to be like the others. She wanted him to be different. But she can't change the demon inside.
He sighed and closed his eyes. He needs some sleep. That will help him get rid of all this tension. Yawning, Luke rolled onto his stomach and fell asleep.
Elise looked out the window as she brushed her hair. She stared at the mansion on top of the hill. She has always been curious about the people living there. They never seem to come out. The estate has been unoccupied for years now since she can remember. And recently someone moved in, but have not clean the creepy trees. The whole house looked creepy. Everyone at school says a killer lives there and is hiding bodies in the basement. Those are strong rumors.
She doesn't believe them, but she is curious. The mansion is something that interests her but frightens her at the same time. At some point, whoever lives there, has to come out.
She smiled and laid in bed. She won't think about it anymore.
