Ever since Luke told me about his birthplace, his been silent and distant. And I don't know why. Did it bring back bad memories? If that's the case, I fell guilty.
"Whoa," I stumble as I bumped into Shawn.
"Oh sorry, silly me," I said.
"It's okay," he helped me pick up the papers. "Where's Luke?"
I asked that same question myself. It's Friday, and he didn't show up for school. Was he sick? I'll check on him later.
"Not sure maybe his sick," I said.
"Yeah, well see you later," I nodded and went to class. Through the whole day, my mind was only on Luke. Did I upset him that he didn't show up for school? I wanted to know.
I ran to his house when the final bell rang. I rushed in through the gates and didn't even bother to knock I just went in. Alina was skipping down the hall. She saw me and ran to me.
"Good your here, maybe you can get Luke to come out of his room," she said. I frowned and followed her upstairs to Luke's room. Once there I knocked. I tried opening it, but it was locked.
"Luke, it's me Elise let me in please," I said.
I heard rustling, and then the door swings open. Luke looked terrible. His hair was sticking up in different directions. He had bags under his eyes. He just looked awful. I went in; I shoo Alina away. Closing the door, I went and sat next to Luke. I felt his forehead.
"You're burning up," I said.
"Yeah," he laid down and rolled on to his stomach. He closed his eyes; his breathing was uneven. I rushed into the bathroom and wet a small towel and came back. I flipped Luke on to his back and placed the small cloth over his forehead. He groaned and swiped my hand away. I shook my head this will be one long night.
And so it was, Luke fever raised. So I had called my parents I would be staying the night. I'm surprised they agree, they must like Luke a lot.
I stayed half the night tending to Luke; he looked exhausted. "How is he?" Calvin asked.
"Not a good, his fever won't go down," I said.
"I see," he walked over. He looked at me for a long time.
"What?" I stared back.
"Nothing, just, my brother lucky to have a second chance in love," he said.
"What you mean?" I asked.
"Ah, he hasn't told you, well when he does then you'll understand what I said," Calvin said walking out.
Great, now I'm curious. I'll ask Luke once his better. For now, I'll be his nurse.
Being a nurse is tough. Luke constantly twitched around, groaning and thrashing around. He never stayed still. I laid next to him than he seems to calm down. I fell asleep next to him.
In the morning I woke up. I checked on Luke; his fever seems to go down, which made me happy. I went into the bathroom. My toothbrush was there; I had left it when I stayed the night the other day. I did my thing and went out. Luke was still sleeping. I went downstairs and straight to the kitchen. George was there.
"Morning," I said.
"Morning Miss Elise, how's Luke?" He asked.
"Oh his alright, his fever went down," I said.
"I'm glad, I made breakfast, dig in, and could you make sure little Alina eats her food, I need to run errands," he said.
"Sure," I smiled. I filled a plate with food and took it upstairs to Luke. Maybe he'll get hungry once his up. I hope he wakes up. I ate a little I wasn't feeling hungry. Alina woke up, so I had to help her around and feed her. I finished up with that, and then I went back to Luke; I had left Alina in her room.
Luke was sitting up, trying to stand. But he fell back down on the bed. He was still a bit feverish.
"Do you need something?" I went over helping him up.
"Bathroom," his voice was raspy. I helped him to the bathroom. Then back to his bed.
"You hungry?" I asked.
"No," he rolled on to his stomach. "Just want to sleep." At least he was talking. I sighed and nodded. So while he slept, I clean his room. It was bit messy. I grabbed a book that was on the under his bed.
A strange place to keep books, I opened it, and a paper fell out; I picked it up.
It was a picture of a beautiful young woman. She had dark hair and bright green eyes. She was pretty. But who is she? There was no name. I set the picture on the nightstand and went to read the book. Halfway through the book, Luke woke up. I went over to him.
"How are you feeling?" I asked setting the book next to me as I felt his forehead.
"Better," he smiled, but his smile drop once he saw the book. "Where you get it from?" He snatched the book looking through it. I think he was looking for the picture.
"Under your bed, when I was cleaning," I said standing up and grabbing the picture from the nightstand, I gave it to him. He just took it and crumbled it up. I looked at him.
"Who is she?" I asked.
"No one," he said.
"Luke, you can tell me," I said.
"No!" He yelled. I stood up and backed away.
When he yelled, his eyes turned black, not red. But pure black. And it gave me the chills.
Now I was afraid of him. He did tell me his another type of demon. But he only uses one, while the other he doesn't. But it's not the case here; he looks scary. I pressed against the wall, next to the door. Just in case I need to run. His eyes weren't changing back. He must've had notice since he dropped the crumpled up picture and stood. He advanced towards me. But I just shook my head; his eyes weren't changing back. I swear I could feel him see through me. Through my soul. It was freaky.
"Elise," oh my god his voice. It was demonic. There's was another voice in there. He reached for me. But I bolted out. It was the vibes he was giving out, and that little voice in the back of my head telling me to run, just to run that it was dangerous to be with him. So I did tan, taking my stuff and ran. Didn't stop until I reached home.
Once I got home safe and sound I made my way towards my bedroom. Making sure the window was close, just in case he decided to sneak in, I flop on the bed.
God, he was scary back there. It wasn't him speaking. I shouldn't have asked who that female was. It's none of my business. But if we are going to keep this relationship going, I need him to trust me, as I do.
If there's no trust then, how can we make it work? I want this to work.
But how, if he won't trust me. Being in a relationship is harsh.
