We landed in the dark forest, in the midst of the thin trees. No birds chirping, no sun shining through. It was foggy and cold. The smell of the forest wasn't familiar to me at all.

Where were we?

Esme nuzzled into me, shivering. I pressed my girl closely to me, draped my scarf over her body.

My cords quivered.

I mumbled a simple spell 'Mother Nature tell us where we are. Mother Nature tell us how far we are apart.'

My green and brown cords twisted together into a double helix and went into the ground.

It didn't need more specification. My heart already said enough.

The leaves on the ground parted into a simple word.

Lyon.

My heart was beating rapidly.

The soil parted and made a line to show us how far Baldwin was away.

He was close.

I looked up and let out a loud "Thank you, Moon Goddesses Diana and Aradia!"

The sun broke through the trees and shone brighter. A star appeared courtly in the sky.

They had really done this.

They had tricked fate.

My lips and hands were shaking.

Esme looked at me worried.

I sobbed, which made my daughter sob too.

I lifted her up.

I prayed for him to come.

A thought crossed my mind.

An adrenaline rush filled me.

What if she knew?

I held Esme closer, and started running for my life.

The trees passed by us in a blur.

The coldness of the forest seemed refreshing.

I couldn't stop.

Wouldn't stop.

My feet carried me to where he was.

The air around me parted.

The ground got firmer so I could run better.

Esme got lighter.

Baldwin.

Baldwin.

Baldwin.

Baldwin?

I stopped dead in my tracks.

A vampire stepped out.

Baldwin!

My heart was beating rapidly, and I was breathing loudly for air. Baldwin? Esme looked up from my arms.

Was that ... really my Baldwin?

I must be dreaming.

Yes, that's it.
