The sing-along around the campfire.
The word 'music’ was redefined.

The days started to blur together. Everything we did was another 'usual’ thing, be it midnight walks or accidentally burning our food. Our lives had become the most interesting things there could be, and we were getting the full effect of living like this.
Including the negatives.
“We're not allowed to the campfire?!” Hoseok hyung gasped in disbelief. His entire face conveyed the feeling of injustice. He leaped up from the spot where he had been sitting a second ago, his hands grasping the collar of the instructor who had told us so. “How can you do this to your own campers?”
The instructor’s monotonous voice informed us that our 'misbehaviour’ had led to us getting this punishment and that it was all our own fault.
I pouted and crossed my hands. I liked campfires, and I was looking forward to this one since the instructors had hinted a singing night. Disappointment doesn't even begin to describe how bad I felt.
She of course remained stationary, thinking hard. I had gotten to know her well enough to know that she was finding a way for us to be there. True to my thoughts, she snapped her fingers and shook us guys out of our miserable states.
“I know how we can still make it there tonight.”
We huddled around her, eager to listen to her fabulous plan. “How?” We asked in unison.
She grinned, her coloured teeth gleaming, just as her eyes did behind her glasses. “We are not going to come back from the forest after the tasks are done. We are going to stay there and wait until we hear music. We are going to be the unwanted audience for all the performances.”
And so, after misfortune came down on us, I cherished the plan with diabolical anticipation. I never knew I could get such happiness by going against what I had been told to do. I can never forget the thrill that rushed inside me at the very thought of breaking the rules.
The sun soon drifted below the horizon, and the stars began to show up. Sticking to the course of action, we hung at the back of the group and tiptoed into the cover of the woods. The tired footsteps faded into the silent night.
“Do we follow them?” I whispered. “We shouldn't lose them. We can find out where the campfire is.”
Hoseok hyung led the way, squinting into the darkness. Even though we had planned this out, we had forgotten a crucial tool: a flashlight. In no time, we were hopelessly lost. I guess we were paying the price for our sloppiness.
