Chapter 22

Annika and Shivi reached home at around three in the afternoon. They all had had a late lunch on the way and all Annika wanted was to cuddle next to her daughter and have a nice, deep nap as soon as possible. Unlocking her apartment's door, she sighed as she took in the familiar setting, the bright colours and the quirky furniture. Immediately, she felt herself calm and sighed when she felt at home, with her daughter fast asleep in her arms. What could be better than this?

Who knew these three days were going to be the most unexpected ever? Never in her wildest dreams had she thought that she will meet Shivaay or the Oberois ever again. But God has his mysterious ways, right?

She had always heard, whatever happens, happens for good. Jo hota hai, acche ke liye hota hai. But incidences like these made her question statements like that. What good was going to come out of this? All this situation did was make her anxious and nervous, made Siddharth shake in rage, ruined their vacation, spoiled Aryan's birthday holiday and made Vikram and Sonakshi uncomfortable.

But good things did happen, she couldn't deny that. Finally, she was able to have some closure. She was able to meet everyone, talk to everyone, become a small part of their happiness, be it Rudra and Somya's pregnancy, Om and Gauri's wedding or see Badepapa and Badi ma happy. She was able to witness how much Siddharth, Vikram and Sonakshi loved her and were protective of her. And the most unforeseen thing happened as well. Shivi became friends with Shivaay?

"Not exactly friends but she really likes him? Calls him the blue-eyed man!" Annika chuckled as she remembered Vikram saying this. Walking to her room, she placed her daughter on the king sized bed, pulling the duvet on her after removing her shoes. Putting her phone on vibration mode, she started her chores. She took their luggage and unpacked everything quickly, putting clothes in the laundry, toiletries in the bathrooms, electronics and files in the small office slash library. In flat twenty-five minutes, she was showered and changed in a soft, comfortable pair of pyjamas, ready to sleep when her phone vibrated rather loudly.

Her heart pounded as she heard the slow reverberation of the phone.

"Here's my card."

She'd given him her card, was he calling her?

Already?

Walking to the table, her mind hastily made hundreds of replies, what to say, what to reply but she sighed in relief when she saw the bright screen flashing with Eva calling in big letters.

"Hello?" She said, scratching her hair.

"Ma'am, are you both back?" Eva asked with a concerned voice and Annika smiled.

"Yes, yes. We just came, an hour ago." She said and moved out of the room, not wanting to wake Shivi up.

"Okay, just wanted to ask that. You should rest now, I will see you tomorrow?" Her assistant said.

"Eva?" Annika asked and Eva could hear the nervousness in her tone.

"Yes Ma'am?" She asked the concern clear in her voice again.

"Do I have any meetings today?" Annika asked, crossing her fingers, in hope that Eva says yes.

"Um, no Ma'am. Vikram sir had made clear that you don't have any meetings for these three days." Eva said and Annika sighed, grumbling about her friend in her mind.

"Okay then, would you email me some documents? About the meetings we have next week. And...and the week after that too." Annika said and Eva frowned.
