So here it is! Enjoyyyy!
Chapter 33
"How about Aisha?" Soumya said excitedly, the pen in her hand pointed sharply at Rudra as the notepad sat on her knee.
"No, no." Rudra shook his head. "Aisha Patel was my first girlfriend in first standard. Her ponytails still haunt me. Next!"
"Okay. How about...Piya!" She asked again, with the same excitement.
"No, Piya Rai had a humongous crush on me and sent me boxes of chocolates every Tuesday at 11 pm with a love puzzle to solve! A classic creep! Next!" Rudra shuddered and sighed.
"Hmm, how about-
"Anita!?" Rudra said excitedly and sat up, looking at Soumya with expectant eyes.
"What is this, 1965? We want a modern name for our daughter Rudra. Please think harder!" Soumya whimpered angrily.
"Ok babe, do not panic. We will find a great name for our love child!" He said and smiled widely.
"What? Why are you saying that our child is illegitimate?" Soumya frowned.
"What, when did I say that?" He frowned harder.
"You just said, love child!" Soumya crossed her arms and sat back, shaking her head.
"Love child does not mean illegitimate; it means a child born out of love!" Rudra explained as Soumya pursed her lips.
"No darling, it does not." Soumya said.
"Darling, it does!" Rudra said, nodding his head.
"It does not babe!" Soumya said again, shaking her head.
"It really does babe!" Rudra said, nodding wildly.
"Why don't you Google it then?" Soumya said with a smile.
"Yes, I will!" He said and took his phone. "Hm, L-O-V-E C-H-I-L-D M-E-A-N-I-N-G. Ok, see, it says, Love Child, noun, a child born to parents who are not...married...to each...other. WHAT?!"
"Yes. Shall we move on?" Soumya said, with a triumphant smile on her face as her husband sat there with a defeated expression on his cute face.
"My whole life has been a lie!!!" He fake cried, throwing his phone away as he lied down on the bed. "Why me God, why me!"
"Rudra." Soumya chuckled at his overdramatic actions. "Stop it!"
"What have I ever, ever done to you!!!" Rudra cried, pointing at the ceiling and waving his long legs like a baby.
"Ok!" His wife tried to stop her laughs. "That's...enough!" She chuckled between words and he sat up.
"Ok, I am fine now. Let's start again. Wait a minute, Sumo, I have a great idea!" He suddenly said and Soumya nodded.
"Let's find what our names mean and we can give our daughter a name which means the same?" Rudra explained and Soumya smiled.
"That's a great idea. Give me my phone!" She said excitedly and took her phone. "Ok, meaning of Soumya. Soft, decent, gentle. Nice."
"That's so true, it all applies to you!" He said and kissed her cheek. "Let's see what Rudra means!" Rudra said as Soumya typed her husband's name in the search engine.
"Hm, the roarer, mightiest of the mighty, personification of terror, the most frightening one. That's quite interesting!" Soumya said and looked at her husband, who had a proud look on his face. "It all applies to you too! You are the roarer, by which I mean crybaby, you are undoubtedly mighty, you are quite terrifying when you miss your workout and you are the most frightened when the curtains sway unexpectedly at night!" She said and looked at him again, only to see him pouting with a very cute pout. "I am just kidding; you know I love you so much!" She said and kissed his pouted lips.
"Yes I know." He smiled and sighed. "So that plan didn't work. How can our names be totally opposite of each other!"
"Well, that proves that opposites do attract to each other. Well in our case they do anyways!" Soumya chuckled and Rudra nodded.
"What now?" He said.
"Wait a second, what was the name which Annika Di suggested when she merged our names together, Ru...Mi...what?"
"Rumi? No, that reminds me of Romi!" Rudra shuddered and Soumya shook her head as well.
"Rumya! It was Rumya! How does that sound as an actual name?" Soumya recommended, eyebrows reaching her forehead in expectation.
"Hmm, Ms Rumya Tendulkar Singh Oberoi. Sounds very interesting." Rudra nodded, scratching his chin.
"Yes. It's unique, it's different, it's-
"One of a kind!"
"Yes, and it certainly grabs your attention!" Soumya said, eyes shining with joy.
"And it's the amalgamation of our love, just like she is! When our names merged, her name was born just like, when we merged, she was born! Amazing" He said excitedly, sitting up straight.
"Okay, I will forget your weird statement because you used amalgamation right! I am so proud of you!" She said with a proud tone as her husband sat beside her, with a very proud look on his face.
"So, Rumya, final?" He asked.
"Yes!!" She said and lied down slowly.
"Wow." Rudra said and smiled, kissing her forehead. "I love you so much Soumya." He spoke softly, eyes shining with happy tears. "And I love you so much too Rumya." He mumbled, caressing his wife's belly lovingly.
"We love you too, so much. Very much." His wife said, cupping his face.
"When should we tell everyone that we have decided on a name?" Rudra asked.
"I think we should tell them tomorrow. Gauri Bhabhi and Maa were suggesting me with names all the time."
"You know what O suggested? Kala, meaning art. And when I said no, he started saying words like, Falguni, Harita, Iya, Palaksi, Sona which means reddish, green, violet, white and gold, respectively! I swear that man is obsessed with colours!"
"Wow, you have great memory, remembering all those words and their correct meanings!" Soumya chuckled. "And I really like the name Iya. You know violet is my favorite colour."
"Well then, Rumya's sister will be named Iya, what say?" Rudra suggested with a smirk.
"I say ok." Soumya smirked herself and Rudra's eyes widened in excitement as Soumya laughed. "Accha listen, we will tell the family tomorrow and I was thinking, we should also tell Annika Di right? After all, the name was her creation. Right?"
"Obviously." Rudra nodded. "Now let's sleep, it's very late."
Soumya nodded as Rudra pulled the duvet over them, switching off the lights and cuddling her, his hand softly grazing her stomach, over their Rumya. They slept with a smile on their lips, dreaming of their future.
Miles away, in another home, Annika slept soundly beside her daughter, unaware how happy and excited she had made these young parents-to-be. Well, she would be aware soon!
