"Are you serious?" Siddharth exclaimed, looking at Annika. "He's really gone?"
"Yaa, his flight was today, three hours ago." She said, nodding and sipping her coffee.
"That's shocking. I didn't think he would just...go like that." He said and took out a beer from the refrigerator.
"He didn't just go like that. We talked before he left." She said and frowned. "Why are you drinking beer at nine in the morning?"
"It's Sunday." He shrugged and took a sip. "What did you talk about? Did you really dump him?"
"I didn't dump him...I told him that I need time to...think over things." She shrugged and finished her coffee.
"So how much time do you need?" He asked, raising his eyebrows in questions.
"I don't know. Maybe a few weeks or months." She shook her head. "I have yet to start...the thinking."
--
"So how much time did she say she need?" Jhanvi asked Shivaay the next day, when the Oberoi men reached their home.
"Well, I didn't ask her that." He shrugged as he buttered a toast. "These things take time and I told her...she can take as much time as she wants."
"You are right." Gauri nodded, walking to the table with a plate of hot alooparathas. "It's the matter of a whole life. Of hers, yours, Shivi's, Sahil's."
"Yes, rushing won't do any good." Soumya said as she helped herself with fresh alooparathas.
"Sumo!" Rudra frowned and exchanged his fruit plate with Soumya's. "Just three more months' babe."
"Sorry, habit I guess." Soumya bit her lip and scowled a bit before biting into an apple slice.
"So what will you do now?" Om asked, sipping his special glucose biscuit tea and staring at his brother.
"Nothing. I'll work and I'll wait." Shivaay shrugged.
"You don't haveany other option." Rudra chuckled and Soumya looked at him with a why do you say things like that expression. "I am just saying the truth!"
"You are right." Shakti nodded as Shivaay nodded.
"So if she takes ten years, you are going to wait for ten years?" Pinky looked shocked and appalled. "You are going to waste your life-
"Mom please. I am not going to agree with you so please, save your energy." Shivaay said and sighed. "I am leaving for office."
"We'll meet you there." Tej said and ate his breakfast with relish. "These parathas are amazing Gauri!"
"I want it too!" Soumya whined softly and Tej tore half a paratha before placing it in her plate.
"Have it bete, half a paratha is not going to spoil anything!" He said with a wink and Soumya grinned.
"Dad!" Rudra pouted and sighed but looking at his wife's excited face, didn't stop her from enjoying the dish with a small smile.
Shivaay left his house with a chuckle and walked out to his car. The driver opened the door and he sat down, taking a deep breath. He had a lot to do other than just work and wait. If, and he hoped, Annika said yes, he would have to move to London. He didn't worry about the professional part of it, he would just start heading the England offices. He was not even worried for the reactions of his brothers and sisters-in-law, he knew they would be sad but still support him whole-heartedly. Even Dad, Badepapa and Badi Maa. He was just worried about the reactions of his Dadi and Mom. Dadi would be terribly upset and his mom, she's going to wreck havoc. But he did not have any choice. And he was ready to do anything.
