Chapter Twenty-Two: The Promise

Sasuke woke up and walked out of the mansion. He took note of the mailbox that seemed touched and found a letter inside for him. He took the letter out and started reading it.

To my dear Sasu,

I'm sorry I couldn't stay. I really missed you and especially since we just reunited, I really didn't want to leave. I'm really sorry. I hope you can forgive me and understand the motives behind my actions. You might have been a traitor, teammate or revenge obssesed freak to certain people, but you will always be our dear brother. Be careful and watch out for Danzo. Please promise me you'll find the correct path and stay alive until we meet again.

P.S. I will always love you.

Uchiha Sakura

Sasuke held onto the paper tightly as he saw the cherry blossom petal that was attached to it. The faint scent of Sakura, indicating she was here not long ago.

A flower may bloom but eventually it will die.

Sasuke made up his mind. From today on, he won't stop training till her drops. Until he is able to defeat Danzo. He hated him for what he did and swear he will revenge his loved ones.

--------4 months later--------

Sasuke had learnt many new techniques and unlocked his Mangekyo Sharingan. Even though he couldn't fully unleash it's powers yet, he thought it was enough to kill Danzo.

Itachi and Sakura caught wind of Sasuke planning to go against Danzo and immediately dashed to Konoha. They really hope they weren't too late. 'Don't do anything rash, Sasuke!' Sakura and Itachi thought.

When they reached the scene, Danzo was with two of his sidekicks by his side and a already half-dead Sasuke on the ground. "Why? Why?! I trained so hard for this day!" Sasuke was blaming himself and questioning his choices.

"You are still weak, young Uchiha. I only let you live because Itachi begged me to. But now that he's not in Konoha anymore, I have no more reason to keep you alive." Danzo said. He was about to give the final blow to Sasuke but then Itachi stood before him and deflected the attack.

Sakura came at the same time and engaged in a fight with his sidekicks. There was a serious tension in the air between Danzo and Itachi. "Itachi..." Danzo hissed. "Hn. You'll pay for what you did to my brother." Itachi said glaring at him with his Mangekyo. First a genjutsu by Itachi but Danzo broke out of it almost immediately.

Sakura on the other hand was up against two elite shinobis at once. She's taking more time than usual to finish them off. Itachi and Danzo were having a fierce fight and was trying to read each other's movements. Sakura on the other hand just activated her sharingan.

After a few hours of dodging and attcking, everyone was getting tired. Especially Itachi and Danzo. Sasuke just laid there unable to move anymore. Sakura had a few attempts in trying to heal Sasuke but the elite shinobis just keep on coming back for her and blocking Sasuke out of her view.

Soon, the fight came to an end. Itachi was poisoned by a ninja that sneaked up behind him when he was focused on Danzo. Sakura couldn't stand seeing her dear brothers getting hurt anymore so she used up every last bit of her chakra to finish the shinobis. Danzo was still standing but he suffered serious injuries as well.

He called more medic shinobis to heal him while Sakura switched place with Hinata and Hinata did the healing with her chakra. "Sakura... heal Sasuke... first..." Itachi managed to mumble out. "But-!" Sakura tried to reason but she knew it was useless since Itachi loves Sasuke so much that he was willing to sacrifice his life.

"Sasu, are you feeling alright?" Hinata, acting as Sakura, asked with deep concern. "Onee...chan. I think... I won't survive..." Sasuke said. "Don't say that! I will heal you because it's the last thing Itachi wants me to do. So please, live!" Hinatacried. "Onee... I was poisoned...badly, I'm going to die soon..." Sasuke choked out.

"I will never let you die! There are people who love you and are concerned about you so please... just don't die on me!" Hinata cried out even louder. Sasuke dug into his pocket and took out the letter that Sakura gave to him. Hinata's eyes widen at the letter. "I-I'm sorry onee...I didn't fufill the promise..." Sasuke sent her a weak smile.

"No..." Hinata mumured as she took the letter. 'Even if I make an antidote now I won't make it in time for both Itachi and Sasuke...I-...I'm so sorry Sakura...I know how you feel and I'm really sorry...' Hinata cried. Sakura didn't reply but Hinata could hear her crying in the dark. She was filled with even more hurt and sorrow now.

"I...love you... Sakura, Sasuke." Itachi said and breath his last breathe. "Me too, onii-san." Sasuke replied, smiling and then letting his head fall to the ground. "No... no! Don't die on me you two!" This time it was Sakura, she could no longer hide herself in the back, heck her chakra wasn't even fully regenerated yet but how could she worry abut that in that kind of situation?

"You... you killed my brothers. My only brothers. You can just go to hell you monster!" Sakura screamed and dashed for Danzo. He stopped the medic to looked at an enraged Sakura heading his way. She was already half-beaten and don't look like she'll last any longer.

"Are you sure I'm the monster?" Danzo said, triggering something in Sakura. "I'd advice you to surrender since you barely have any chakra left to fight me." He said in a smug tone as if already knowing what would be the outcome of a second match. "I'll lose? Hah!" Sakura chuckled in a way that scared even Danzo. He looked at her, confused as a dark aura surrounded her.

"You sure, I'll lose?" Sakura sent a smirk his way. "What the-" Danzo said but was immediately met by a revenge seeking, blood-lusting looking Sakura. She sped over to him and slashed him continuously, never stopping to even breathe. The medic ran off at the lunatic Sakura and left Danzoo all alone to face her in his current state. Sakura laughed maniacly and enjoyed every attack she took out on Danzo.

Danzo couldn't move due to the fast movements and every cut just made him feel weaker. "It's over." Sakura whispered into his ear. Her hand glowed pink and a final blow was given to Danzo. 

A fresh body, collapsed in front of her. Sakura slowly walked past the body and knelt before Itachi and Sasuke.

"Itachi... I've failed you... Sasuke... I'm sorry..." Sakura cried profusely, the tears rolled down with no intention of stopping. This time the people she least wanted to see appeared.

Naruto stared at the unconscious body of his rival. Unable to take in what he was seeing.

"S-Sasuke? Hey teme, you can;t die on me you know! After all the trouble we went to get you back, you can't do this!" Naruto screamed and cried together with Sakura. Sensing the slight uncomfortable change in atmosphere, Sakura lifted her brothers' bodies onto her shoulders and slowly walked away from them. "I'll make my way now." And she disappeared together with Itachi's and Sasuke's body in a puff of smoke.
