Chapter Twenty-Six: Sakura's betrayal

"Kazekage-dono... is dead?!" A ninja exclaimed.

"Unbelievable! He had a bijuu inside of him!" Another replied.

"Yeah but I heard his bijuu was absorbed and he died, just because he refuses to use it to fight against the enemy. How stupid." The ninja said.

"That's not true! Stop spouting nonsense when you know nothing!" Temari glared at them.

"T-Temari-san!" They exclaimed.

"Gaara couldn't control his bijuu well and if he ever uses him he might go on a rampage and kill everyone in the village! Think of it! He sacrificed his life for all of you!" Temari retorted angrily.

"W-we're sorry, Temari-san. We didn't know." They bowed apologetically. Temari was clearly annoyed at the things people were saying about his little brother. "Now Temari, we should go give Gaara a proper burial..." Kankuro said. "Y-yeah." Temari stammered and held back her tears.

'I still need to find out who those people were. They didn't look like the Akatsuki. No, the Akatsuki are dead. These people seemed stronger. They had crazy amount of chakra! Who are they...' Temari thought.

--------In Konoha--------

"Sakura-chan! You received the letter too?" Naruto asked. Sakura turned her head and immediately slipped the piece of paper into her pocket and pulled out an envelope. "Yeah."

"Don't worry Naruto. We're going together. You trust me right?" Sakura said. "Of course Sakura-chan!" Naruto smiled brightly. Sakura smiled back.

On the note, it wrote:

Sakura, Hotori died from overusage of chakra and poison the moment we came back. Thus, I took his eyes and we will be preparing for you as his replacement. You will continue your job as a spy in Konoha nonetheless. We are hoping to capture the Kyuubi today. I assume Tsunade would come too. We will split up and get rid of her once and for all today. 

-Madara

Sakura closed her letter and secretly burned it.

"Sakura, is there something wrong?" Naruto asked. "Nothing, I'm just talking to Hinata." Sakura answered. "Oh yeah, I forgot she was in your head." Naruto scratched his head.

Sakura just sighed at his stupidity.

They brought the letter to Tsunade. She examined it throughly and analysed it carefully. "Hm, this might be a trap. Considering that they were the ones who killed Gaara and extracted the bijuu from him. They also caused quite a big mess in Sunagakure with just two person. Since they did not say anything about coming alone, I will send five of my elite ANBUs and myself with you." Tsunade said.

"Hai."

So Tsunade did the necessary procedures and some paperworks before heading out. "I find something fishy about this mission." Tsunade said as they made their way to the place. "What about it, Tsunade-sama?" Sakura asked. "I can't put my finger on it but there's definitely something going on." Tsunade said.

Sakura kept quiet. She knew what she was talking about and she's right. Little did they know that they were in for a big trouble...

"Ah, so you came." Madara spoke.

"Madara! What have you called Naruto and Sakura here for?" Tsunade boomed.

"We'll talk about that later. Now, my members are getting a little bored. So shall we spar for a little while?" Madara smirked.

"Enough nonsense! We didn't come here for games!" Tsunade screamed back with firmness in her voice.

"Oh, but I thought you did." Madara teased and signalled for the rest to attack. They were all separated and Madara was all up against Tsunade.

"Madara, what do you want?!" Tsunade demanded. "You have no need to know." Madara said lowly. Tsunade gasped and thought 'Naruto! That must be it!' Tsunade turned back towards Naruto's direction but was stopped by Madara.

"Do you think I'll let you ruin my plans?" Madara chuckled. A huge blue soldier came out from Madara's back and his eyes were glowing red. He activated his Mangekyo Sharingan and out came the Susano'o.

~~~~~~With Naruto~~~~~~

"Well, well. It's the jinchuriki boy that couldn't save his friends. What a joke." Tobi snarled wickedly. "Shut up! You don't know anything!" 

"I know everything. That you guys betrayed that girl beside you. She was a missing-nin and a great threat to Konoha so Tsunade convinced her to come back to Konoha. Tsunade wanted to keep her under watch and even before you guys left she has always been under watch." Tobi continued.

"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" Naruto screamed." Sakura pretended to feign ignorance. "Naruto it's alright. You trust me, don't you?" Sakura said. "Yeah, Sakura-chan. Of course I do." Naruto replied with sadness and guilt in his voice.

"Good. Then take this pill and fight him!" Sakura said determinely and handed him a pill. Naruto received it and tightened his headband. "Un! I'll defeat him! Believe it!" Naruto dashed towards Tobi while he was just sitting there like a boss.

"Yeah, sure you will." Sakura smiled cruelly. After many kunai clashes, Naruto was getting tired but Tobi wasn't. "I'm impressed with your determination but it won't work here." Tobi said. Naruto just grunted.

Suddenly, Naruto felt his stomach hurt badly and he coughed up blood. "W-what did you do?!" Naruto asked shakily. "It's not me. It was your friend." Tobi said while directing his vision to Sakura.

"S-Sakura-chan won't do that! She changed! She won't hurt me!" Naruto just vomitted out more blood from getting agitated. "Yes, it was me Naruto. I poisoned you with a very powerful poison not even a bijuu or jinchuriki can stand. It was a gift from Sasori-kun before he left and I combined it with my own. Now, it has been nice hanging out with you again for the past two months." Sakura explained emotionlessly.

"Saku...ra..." Naruto fainted. "Is he dead?" Tobi asked. 

"Not yet. It was just a poison but I didn't put anything that can kill in it. I won't be needing to since that's your job." Sakura replied. "Hn, I see."

~Madara vs Tsunade~

"M-Madar-" Tsunade choked out and coughed out blood at the same time. Madara opened his eyes and said. "Seems like the job is done, Sakura did a fantastic job. I don't need you anymore so you can just rot and die." Madara walked away from the dying figure of Tsunade.

"No... N-Naruto." Tsunade said before trying to move out of the stabbed area with all her last energy. When she finally escaped, she started healing herself. The only thing on her mind was Naruto's safety and Sakura.

'Sakura, what is the meaning of this?'
