Chapter Four

I pull the blanket Cody and I are sharing over my eyes. If you've ever seen the move Dead Silence you will know it's not so much scary but creepy. I shudder. I can't stand those dolls!

The tub of ice-cream has long since been finished and the sun has set, making it even darker in the living room. Cody and I are sitting on the couch. I'm leaning into him, his arm wrapped around my shoulders and a blanket covering our legs.

"Those dolls are creepy as hell." I mumble.

"Don't you have a few dolls in your room?" he asks.

"Used to. And they were porcelain...not like those." I nod my head toward the T.V. Cody laughs, I can feel his body vibrate. I curl into him even more. My eyes start to droop shut toward the end of the movie.

"Don't fall asleep, Katie." Cody whispers. I shake my head, yawning. I can't help it. I keep my eyes closed and I quickly fall asleep.

I'm woken up when I feel myself being lifted off the couch. Cody carries me in his arms, bridal style. My head rests against his chest, I can hear his heart beating. I can't help but smile a bit. Him carrying me just feels so normal. But it shouldn't be right? Right, because he's my best friend.

He set's me down on my bed, pulling the covers over me. Cody pushes my hair out of my face and lifts my chin upward. I blink before opening my eyes and once I do I'm looking right into his.

"Katie, I'm setting your alarm. You better get up tomorrow." he warns me. I nod and watch him leave. As soon as he's gone I fall back into my peaceful slumber.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

I jolt awake by the loud noise. What the hell? I spot my alarm clock, I send it a glare as I reach for it. I grab it, yanking it out of the wall in the process and throw it across the room. The alarm clock hits the opposite wall with a loud bang. I watch with wide eyes as it falls to the ground in pieces.

Oops.

I reluctantly leave my warm bed. I get ready as fast as I can. I pull on a pink tank-top, a pair of blue jean shorts and my new yellow converse. I leave my hair in waves, falling to mid-back and I add some eye-liner and mascara.

I leave the house to sit on the front steps outside and wait for Cody. I spot Cody about five minutes later. His eyes land on me, widening with surprise.

"You're up? And Ready?" his voice and face are complete shock. My smile grows even larger and I start to giggle.

"Come on, let's just go to school."

We get to school early for once. I see Trey hanging out in the parking lot with a whole bunch of his football buddies. He sees me watching him, I blow him a kiss.

I've never kissed Cody or Trey. You might think I would have tried it just to see what its like but in reality I don't want to take any chances on messing up our friendship. These two boys mean the word to me.

Trey sends me a wink. He says something to his friends and then jogs toward us.

"I have to go to class early. I'll see you later." Cody tells me and then walks into the school.

When he gets to me, he picks me up bridal style and spins in a circle.I wrap my arms around his neck to keep from falling. I guess it probably looks romantic.

"Care to make that kiss real?" he smirks, leaning his head toward mine and closing his eyes. I feel my cheeks heat up. I really hope he isn't serious.

"No way!" I push his face away.

"Come on babe, It'll be fun."  I shake my head even though I'm tempted. Even if he doesn't mean it. Just to see was his reaction is. He sets me down but doesn't let go of my waist.

"Rejected!" one of his football friends yells. I laugh, he wasn't serious. He was just messing around like every other time.

"Screw you!" Trey yells back.

"So, I need a favour." I tell him.

"What is it?"

"Can you take me to the mall after school?" I ask, hopefully. We start walking into the school.

"If it's more shoe shopping you can just forget-"

"It's not that!" I cut him off. "I need to buy a new alarm clock." I mumble the last part.

"What happened to yours?" he looks as me curiously.

"It got on my bad side." I mutter. He lets out a bark of laughter.

"I'll take you." he pauses. "And this is for you!" reaching into his beg he pulls out one of his football jerseys and passes it to me. His number is seventeen. I slip it into my bag.

We split up, each going to a different class. The whole day is going way too slow! I swear the clock stopped working at one point! I even fell asleep in my history class.

Finally the bell rings, telling us the last class of the day is over. I jump out of my sear and rush for the hall. I drop my books off at my locker and leave the school as fast as possible. I find Trey's car in the parking lot and hop into the passenger seat.

Trey shows up a few minutes later. He gets behind the wheel and then turns and looks at me. He doesn't say anything, only looks. Some of his hair is covering his eyes and I have an urge to reach out and smooth it out of the way.

But that would be weird.

So I don't. I sit there and look back at him, waiting for him to say or do something.

"Trey. Stop staring." he seems to break out of whatever trance he was in.

"What? Oh, sorry." he puts the car into drive. Once we get to the mall we make a speedy trip into the mall where I buy a brand new alarm clock. Once we get back on the road, we fly away from my house.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"A surprise!" he smirks. I roll my eyes, sinking into the seat. He pulls into a small parking lot for a cafe. I love cafe's, there's just something about them. A quiet comfortable place to hang out. There are only a few where we live.

I get out of the car and Trey takes my hand, leading me into the cafe. I look around. Besides the main counter there are some couches, tables and even a fire place. We walk up to the counter.

"Hi, we'll have a latte and a tea." he orders for the both of us. Once we are given our drinks, we take a seat at one of the tables. I sip my tea slowly so I won't burn myself.

"Thanks for bring me here." I say softly.

"It's no problem." Trey smiles slightly. We keep talking about nothing special. I never want this day to end. I don't want to leave this building. I could stay here forever with Trey, drinking tea and talking about whatever we want.

But sadly, everything comes to an end.

So, what did you think of this chapter? Had both Cody and Trey moments :)
