Epilogue:
"Hurry up or we're going to be late!" I shout at Trey as I lean back into my couch. Yes, I did say 'my'. My couch in MY apartment.
Once we graduated, instead of going to university my dad bought me an apartment and I got a job at the library a few blocks away. This way I get to stay close to my family, it's an ideal situation. Since they live on the other side of the city I visit them at least twice a week.
Cody chose a university in a completely different state. It's super far away so I don't get to see him as often as I would like to. But it's the perfect school for him and he's well on his way to becoming a famous artist.
Then there's Trey. He got a scholar ship to a university about four hours away from here. He comes back almost every weekend and he stays with me here at the apartment. Everything turned out perfect, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Today's a bit different since it's Christmas eve. Trey and I have plans to meet Cody and Allie (Cody's girlfriend) at the beach. We're going to have a bonfire and roast some marshmallows. It's not a traditional way to spend Christmas eve but I don't think we've ever fallen under the 'normal' category.
"What took you so long?" I ask when he finally walks out of the hallway. He just rolls his eyes at me. He's wearing black jeans and a white pull over hoodie.
"Stop eye-raping me and let's go," he laughs. My mouth drops open.
"I was not eye-raping you!" I exclaim, pushing myself off the couch.
"Whatever you say, babe," he smirks. I grab my black leather jacket to match my dark blue jeans. I slip on my favorite pair of converse. There plain black but on the left heel it says 'always' and on the right heel it says 'and forever'. Trey bought them for me for my nineteenth birthday. We walk out of the apartment building and into the garage.
"Can I at least drive?"
"Nope," he smirks again before getting into the passenger seat. I sigh loudly as I reluctantly get into the passenger seat. I flip on the radio to fill the silence. What Makes You Beautiful starts playing. I hum along, looking out the window.
"That's what makes you beautiful!" Trey shouts out randomly. A smile forms on my face and a giggle escapes. He is so weird. That's what best friends are for. We pull into the beach parking lot. I grab a blanket from the back and the two of us make our way down onto the beach. I can see that Cody and Allie are already there. I knew we we're going to be late!
"Cody!" I squeal, running toward him. I throw my arms around him, pulling him into a hug. "I missed you! It's been too long!"
"We talked on Skype last night," he chuckles. "I missed you too," I pull away from him, allowing him and Trey to do their manly hug thing. I pull Allie into a hug.
Allie's a beautiful person. She's nice to everyone and is well...she's just generally a nice person. She has long dirty blonde hair, green eyes and she's about the same height as me. Allie's super beautiful. I swear, Allie and Cody complete each other. They're so perfect for each other, it's crazy.
The four of us work together to build and light a fire. We keep throwing more things into the flame until it gets big enough to be considered a bonfire. We lay our blankets down and I don't hesitate to drop down onto ours and stretch my hands toward the fire. It's so warm
Trey laughs, passing me a roasting stick. I shove a marshmallow onto the sick and roast it over the fire. The thing about marshmallows is they have to be perfect. A nice golden brown.
"Down by the bay,
where the watermelon grow,
back to my home,
I dare not go!
For if I do,
my mother would say:
"did you ever see a bear
combing his hair?"
down by the bay..."
As I sing my friends join in, one by one. Having my friends here with me on Christmas eve is the best thing I could ever ask for. They mean the world to me. Trey wraps his arms around me and I lean into him. I feel safe.
This is where I belong.
Cody and Trey have been with me through everything. They mean everything to me, I wouldn't be here without them. I love them both to piece, just in different ways.
I'm so glad Cody found Allie. I know they are meant to be together. It's obvious. As for Trey and I, I know nothing will ever separate us. I won't let it. This is the boy I love.
My best friend.
I turn my head so that I'm facing Trey. I want to just reach up and kiss him but that would be PDA and I'm not a fan of that. Instead I reach my hand up and touch his cheek lightly.
"I love you," I whisper, loud enough for only him to hear.
"I love you too," he whispers back, pressing his lips to the top of my head.
Always and forever.
It's done! O.O Wow, I had so much fun writing this book, I really hope you enjoyed it. It's sad seeing this come to an end. And no, I won't be writing a sequil. I will be starting a new book soon and I'm co-writing a story with two other lovely authors.
Thank you so much for reading! You are all amazing! Thank you for all the support! :)
