UNITY DAY WAS finally here. Elys didn't know much about it. Only stories that her dad and Bellamy had told her. But the delinquents were starting a new Unity Day.
One with the grounders.
Finn had Lincoln bring their commander to meet them, wanting a truce. It turned out, the flares they sent out burnt down a grounder village, and they were out for blood. When their group shot up the grounders on the bridge, they knew they were in for it. But they didn't know how they would retaliate.
A few people were sitting outside, listening to Jasper brag about his bridge escapade when they heard it.
"Somebody hit the trip wire!"
"What is it?"
"Is it a grounder?"
They then heard gunshots. Octavia and Elys made eye contact, both fearing that it might be Lincoln. They rushed outside and saw a man on the ground curled up. Octavia reaches out to touch him and he scoots back in fear. Elys looks closer, recognizing the man. "Oh my God, Murphy!"
She and Octavia quickly help him into the dropship. They get him on the floor and Elys rushes to grab the first aid kit. Octavia kneels next to him. "What happened to you, Murphy?"
"The grounders happened..." He says, looking away from her.
She frowns and looks at Elys.
"It's okay. You go find Clarke or Bellamy. I've got this." Elys tells her.
She nods, patting her shoulder before leaving. Connor and Derek remain in the dropship, watching the two of them carefully.
Elys gently cleans all of his wounds and bandages a few of the rougher looking ones. She notices as she's cleaning his hands that his fingernails have been torn off. Tears burn in her eyes as she realizes that he was tortured.
"Don't cry..." He chokes out.
Elys looks up at him. "It's my fault. You wouldn't have been out there if it weren't for me."
He shakes his head. "I would've. Would've done something to get banished eventually."
She sighs, wiping her eyes and grabbing a water bottle to help him drink.
A few minutes later, Bellamy storms in. Clarke and Finn are with him. "Where is he?!" He's holding a rifle as he takes in the appearance of Murphy. "Everyone but Connor and Derek out... Now!"
Everyone exits the dropship. Elys remains knelt beside Murphy. Bellamy looks at her as if to ask her to leave but quickly decides against it when she glares at him. Good choice.
Derek looks at Bellamy. "He claims he was with the grounders."
