THE NEXT DAY, a group of grounders showed up at the gates.
Elys was hanging out with Jasper when she saw them. Her eyes widen and she jumps up, running to them. "Luna? Nyko?"
The Arkadian soldiers refuse to let them come closer. They all looked sick, burns on their faces, some passed out.
"Please. They need Skaikru medicine." Nyko begs.
Bellamy, Clarke, and Raven run to the front of the group.
"What happened to them?" Clarke asks.
Nyko sighs. "The sickness. We lost more than forty on the way."
Luna speaks up. "Please don't turn us away because of what I did to you..."
Abby comes forward and examines them.
Clarke kneels next to her. "Mom, what is this?"
"Fever, lesions, vomiting...It's ARS. Acute Radiation Sickness. When did the symptoms start?" She asks them.
Luna shrugs. "Not sure. Right before the fish started dying."
"The fish are dying?" Raven asks.
"Floating on the sea to the horizon in every direction."
"It's not contagious. Let's get them to medbay."
Elys wraps her arm around Luna's shoulder, helping her up and toward the medbay.
They get the rest of the grounders inside and on beds.

Later that day, Elys stood with Clarke, Jackson, and Abby.
"They're getting worse. There's got to be something we can do." Clarke says.
Jackson sighs. "Delactivene might help, but Raven's got the meds on lockdown."
Abby shakes her head. "Leave Raven to me. What exactly do the tests show?"
"The exposure is acute. Without treatment, there's little to no chance of recovery. It looks like the radiation is internal, ingested from irradiate fish. None of the outbreaks appear to be from airborne exposure. That's the good news."
"Not for them." Abby sighs.
Luna walks over to them. "You think I deserve this for refusing the Flame?"
She had gotten better quickly, but the rest of the Floukru grounders were still dying. They realized this was because Luna was a nightblood.
Elys shakes her head. "No one deserves to suffer. Besides, this would've happened anyway, Luna."
Luna nods, looking around. "This is all that's left of my people...can you save them?"
Clarke looks at her. "We'll do everything we can. You have my word."
