*Epilogue*
They play peacefully in the meadow, our young girl with my brown long curls but her daddy’s sea blue eyes, and our boy with a lock of blonde curls and grey seam eyes. “It’s time to head home” Peeta announces and then grabs my hand light-heartedly, giving me a smile. “Mommy can I have cake for pudding” our girl’s voice rings with hope. “Do we even own anything that is not cake?” I say jokily, because it seems that Peeta’s cakes are always on the pudding menu, she smiles and runs back to her brother. “Come on trouble” Peeta says lifting our boy, not short after then comes the question “Mommy I want to be carried too” “Oh shush” I say “We’re nearly home” but I pick her up anyhow.
I know deep down that from the moment I picked up those berries in the 74th hunger games I did something amazing; I gave our children a future. I do not have to worry about my child being slaughtered every year, because now the games are non-existent and we're free.
“Phew” Peeta says “had to read the book twice before they considered going to sleep” but he is smiling, I know he is not mad. He is never mad really. “I miss you” I say because obviously the children take up so much of our time. “I miss you too” Peeta says coming in for a kiss. I reckon there could be a third child on its way by the end of tonight.
