"I don't want your sympathy."

"HUH!" Jyn punched the punching bag. She swung on her heel, kicking the punching bag with her other heel in a blow that would be fatal to a human. Her fists flew at the bag several more times. She paused, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. Jyn's eyes narrowed and her fingers clenched into fists once more. She swung at the punching bag, but as she struck it it stayed still. Jyn's head tilted to one side, confused. A head peeked out from around the other side, a twinkle in his eyes. Jyn grinned. "Captain Andor," she greeted him.

"Miss Erso," he returned the playful welcome. He strode around the punching bag and was out of dress code, obviously for training purposes. Jyn wiped her sweaty hair out of her eyes with the back of her hand, suddenly slightly more self-conscious of her sleeveless tanktop and tight-fitting pants. "Care to join me?" He gestured around him, moving towards the padded flooring, his hands already in fists.

"You're gonna get destroyed, just warning you." Several other soldiers ceased their training to watch the two rebels, already placing bets on the winner. Jyn spread her legs for balance, evenly distributing her weight between her two feet. Cassian grinned. The soldiers started counting down.

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One!"

"Go!"

Cassian lunged, Jyn dodging easily. She kicked him in the back and he stumbled forward. There were "oooh"s from the crowd. Cassian whirled around. Jyn winked. Cassian swung almost tauntingly, and Jyn deflected them.

"Are you... toying with me?" She accused him.

"Maybe." Another swing. He deflected this time. She swung, pivoting on her heel. He was distracted by the fist and her foot made contact with the back of his knee. Cassian buckled and Jyn went for the final slam. Cassian saw it coming and rolled fast. Jyn tumbled to the ground and Cassian pinned her down, his hands pinning her arms above her head.

Jyn stared in his eyes. Cassian blinked for a moment, surprised by the emotion in her eyes. That's when it hit him. How many times had Jyn Erso fought for her very life, just like this? Hand-to-hand, already exhausted and worn out?

"Jyn, I'm sorry, I didn't realize--UNGH!" Jyn had swung her arms outward, offsetting Cassian's balance. He collapsed on top of her. She grabbed his wrists and flipped him over, now on top of him.

"Don't apologize." She whispered. "I don't want your sympathy." Cassian gave the slightest nod. He knew the feeling. Suddenly, he tucked his legs in and kicked her off of him. Jyn grunted and rolled across the floor. She staggered to her feet, holding her head. Cassian cautiously approached her.

"Hey, you ok?" He let his fists fall. It was only briefly that he saw his mistake before he felt it. Jyn instantly kicked his legs out from underneath him. Cassian fell hard on his back. She put a foot on his chest.

"I win." She winked. Cassian grabbed her ankle and yanked it, flipping her over him. Jyn tucked into a somersault and popped back up. Cassian sprung back to his feet, panting. Jyn was breathing hard, the adrenaline fading. Cassian's hands were beginning to shake. Jyn swallowed hard, daring to take her eyes off of him for a second to brush her hair out of her face.  She swung wildly and Cassian side-stepped it easily. He grabbed her arm and pinned it behind her. Jyn was waiting for him to do that and as soon as he had her arm, she let out a final grunt of exertion and bent forward, pushing off of the ground at the same time. Once again, Cassian front-flipped over her and landed hard on his back. "I said, I WIN." She declared. The soldiers cheered, collecting their meager bets.

Jyn helped Cassian to his feet. They both were soaked in sweat, but their eyes were bright and full of happiness. Jyn hugged him, not minding the sweat coating his muscular body. Cassian returned the hug, more content than he'd been in a long time. Jyn grabbed his shirt and pulled him down to her, giving him a quick kiss on the lips. Cassian closed his eyes, relishing the brief moment. After a second, he opened his eyes and laughed. Jyn's cheeks were bright red.

"You're one heck of a woman, Jyn Erso."

"I know."

(a/n: Jassian is presently my favorite Star Wars ship out of all the possible ships, so fair warning... again.)
