Chapter Fourteen - Hospitals

Vivian's POV

I felt a tingling in my arm. Something was inserted into my arm that felt itchy. I opened my heavy eyes to see what it was.

An IV.

I was a hospital, a very loud and busy hospital. How did I get here? I seem to be a regular at hospitals these days. First with Damien, now this. What had happened?

"Oh Vivian! I am so glad you're awake." Someone spoke loudly.

I looked to the voice in irritation. I had a terrible headache, and this idiot decides to scream in my ear. Heck no.

"Calm down." I say, my voice sounding weak and broken.

"If you remember correctly, I saved your life earlier, so I think you owe me. I can be as loud as I want." He jokes.

Then I remember, the lightning, Finn, my uncanny ability to always find a way to end up in a hospital. It was completely ridiculous.

"When can I leave?" I ask starting to sit up. It was easier than I thought it would be, which gave me hope. Perhaps this wasn't serious and I could leave now.

"Umm, I'm not exactly sure. The doctors said they would reassess you once you've woken up. I pushed the big red button over there," he points a red button next to my hospital bed, "to call them. A nurse came in and told me the doctors would be here shortly."

I sigh loudly. I don't like hospitals, never have. They remind me of my parents, my mother died on impact when their car collided with the opposing car. My father, however, died in the hospital shortly after. Rosalie, Ollie and I watched the life drain from his face. It was a horrific experience that I never ever want to experience again.

"Miss Vivian Parker?"

Finn looks up to see two doctors enter the room. I also look up, one is a female the other a male.

"Yes, that's me." I say shakily. I wanted, no I needed to leave this hospital.

"Young man, would you be so kind to leave the room. This visit will be short, so you won't have to leave your girlfriend for long." The male doctor opens the door and gestures for Finn to leave. Girlfriend?

"Okay, I'm not going anywhere though." He whispers to me.

"So, Vivian," the female doctor begins as the male doctor closes the door on Finn. "The electrical shock from the lightning did not leave any long term damage, however it did leave a mark on your back. Unfortunately, the mark cannot be removed, however, your health is exceptionally good, so release from the hospital will be soon."

I immediately whip my head around to try to see the mark. In my hospital gown, my back is completely revealed. Multiple long zig-zagging lines trail down the right side of my back. The lines were a tan color. As disturbing as the image was, it had a certain beauty to it. It looked like tree roots were growing just beneath my skin.

"The marks won't fade?" I ask.

"No, they're permanent, much like a tattoo." The male doctor reported.

I sighed, "Can I please go home now?"

"Yes, we need a parent or guardian to sign you out though." The female doctor moves forward to call a nurse.

"My grandma is home sleeping, she has not been feeling well." I say slowly, choosing my words. If these doctors discover her inability to care for me, they could send her away to a institution.
