Vivian's POV
The rest of the school day was a blur. I realized that I was far behind in Algebra II, History and Physics. English was a piece of cake, my reading comprehension and writing skills have always been exceptionally good.
Lunch with Magnolia, Faye, and Laurel was fun and interesting. Even though Faye claimed they were a mean group, they still pointed out the nerds and geeks of our class. The people I should avoid if I wanted to be liked. It made me wonder if maybe this Popularity Project wasn't such a terrible idea.
In the cafeteria, I spotted Finn with a girl hanging on his arm. I smiled and waved at him. He returned the gesture, but the friendliness he had the other day was gone. I was disappointed, although I knew Ryder and Finn would clash, I still wanted to thank Finn for virtually saving my life.
I let the troubling thoughts go as I walked into the guidance office. A man at the front desk shouted for me to close the door as I walked in. I noticed this room, unlike any of the others, was air conditioned. Perks of being a counselor.
"Hello, my name is Vivian Parker. I was wondering if I could sign up for tutoring after school? Today is my first day, and I'm not sure- am I too late?"I ask the man. He reaches into his desk and pulls out a folder with my name.
"You are in luck, today is the first day tutors get assigned to students. If you walk to the library right now, and give them this slip," he starts writing on an official looking paper, "You should be able to get a tutor. Not many students take this opportunity," he shakes his head in disapproval. The man hands me the slip an shoos me away.
I walk briskly to where Magnolia showed the library was. When I entered, I was shocked at how empty it was. Two or three students accompanied by tutors were studying. I stand awkwardly for a few minutes, not sure where I was supposed to sign up.
"Are you here for tutoring?" A voice behind me asks. I turn around to see a handsome tall guy with brown hair and brown eyes.
"Yeah, do you know where to sign up?" I reply looking up into his pretty eyes. He wasn't as attractive as Ryder, this guy was more nerdy cute.
"Actually, I'm a tutor, the best tutor, but sign ups are over, try again next year." He says and turns to walk way.
"Wait-" I grab his arm, he turns around slowly to face me. "Please, I need help, I'm new to school and I didn't know where to sign up," I nearly beg.
He sighs, "Fine, but you owe me big time. What subjects do you need tutoring on?"
"History, Math, and Science," I answer walking to an empty table and sitting down waiting for him to join me.
"What grade are you in? What's your name?" He asks.
"Junior, Vivian Parker," He finally comes to sit across from me. I smile at him brightly, he rolls his eyes.
"Perry Walters," he sticks out his hand for a firm handshake.
"It's very nice to meet you, Perry Walters," I say happily. My happiness only made Perry more agitated.
"Lets exchange number so if I ever have to cancel, I can text you." Perry and I trade phones, apply our information, and return phones to the original owner.
"Okay, which subject would you like to begin with?" Perry asks. I think for a minute then decide I'm worst in History, best to start there.
"History," I search through my bag for a pen and notebook. "I don't have a textbook yet, since it's my first day, Mr. Kepler didn't have an extra book."
