twenty two ☽ the back story

this chapter is mostly just flashbacks of the story, i will explain the back story after. ALSO THIS CHAPTER IS MY LONGEST ONE YET WITH OVER 2000 WORDS SO BARE WITH ME / also if you don't want to read the flashbacks, i explained the back story under it.

- flashback 1 -

I sigh to myself. I began to developing feelings for my best friend. Like it's not my fault she's beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, absolutely stunni-.

"Hey Johnny!" I hear my best friend running up to me. I chuckle at her. "Hey Kenzie," I reply back pulling her into a hand.

Then we pull away. "Oh, guess what," she says excitedly. I looked at her funny, as I watched her jump around happily. "OO what?" I reply back, curious.

"I got paired with Mark," she replies happily as my smile drops. She looks at me when my smile drops and I just put a fake smile on.

"That's great," I managed to stutter out. Jealous? Yes, I was very much. To see my crush paired with her crush. She looks at me funny. She knows when my mood changes, but I don't think that mattered to her because she just ignored it.

"So the teacher told us we were getting partners today and she called all of us and I heard-" was all I heard before I zoned out.

Ok I know, I know. I should be happy for her, but it's hard hearing your crush talk about her crush. Like anyone else understand??

"Johnny? Johnnyyy," I hear a voice in front of me say as I shake my head out of my daze. "You ok," Kenzie asks me and I just shake my head.

"Yea, lets just got get our ice cream," I reply back with a fake smile as she nods and skips over to the car to tell me more about her crush.

I wish you were mine.

- flashback 2 -

I run my hands through my hair as I am stuck on this math problem. "UGHHH," I moan as I get up and throw myself onto my bed. Then all of a sudden I hear Kenzie running from Lauren's room into mine.

"OH MY GOD JOHNNY, GUESS WHAT?" she says as she jumps onto my bed. I chuckle as I reply, "What?"

"MARK JUST ASKED ME OUT TO A MOVIE," as she said that my heart dropped. She looked so happy tho, and I didn't want her to be mad so I put the fakest smile i had at that moment.

"That's um great. I actually have studying to do, so can you please leave the room," I ask her with anger hinted in my voice. She just looked at me confused. "What's wrong," she whispers as I shake my head.

She stares at me. "Nothing. I'm fine," I reply back as I walk over back to the desk to do my homework. "I'll be in Lauren's room," she mutters as she gets up and walks out.

I put my hands into my hand. I should be happy for her. She's my best friend and she deserves happiness. I sigh.

I can treat you better

- flashback 3 -

"Johnny! Mackenzie is leaving for her date, do you want to say good bye to her?" I hear my sister yell to me as I think about it before deciding not to reply.

I then hear mutters coming from the front door as Mark has come to pick up Kenzie. I hear them say bye and my sister running up to my room to talk to me.
