~Rosia Banks~
The same nightmare kept on repeating every night. Trying to hide and protect ourselves in the cold snowy winter. Mom and I running in the dark in the bushes and the tragic sound of gunshots. The old man yelling and threatening to kill us if we run away. My heart beating rapidly as we ran as fast as we could, my mom shouting "Run, Rosia run!"
I jumped out of bed screaming as I relived my tormenting and tragic past. The door swung open revealing mom.
"Honey, are you okay?" Mom asked as she ran towards me. I shook my head as tears started streaming down my face. Pulling me into a hug she asked "What's wrong? Are you having nightmares again?"
I simply nodded wiping my tears as I recalled my tormenting past. "Where are your pills?" She asked wiping my tears. I pointed at my drawer next to my bathroom and Mom quickly went to the drawer to get my pills.
"I-I- need water." I stuttered. Mom quickly went downstairs to get me a glass of water and came back as fast as she could. I took the glass of water and put two pills in my mouth. I swallowed the pills as I drank the water. Mom slipped into my bed asking "Are you okay sweetie?"
"Yes, now that you're here with me I feel much better and safe."
"I'm going to sleep with you tonight, is that okay?" She asked.
"Yes, that's fine." I said feeling better. "Do you want to talk about the dream?" She asked pulling me into a hug. "I prefer not to, I just want to go back to sleep."
"Well that's fine. Go back to sleep and don't worry I'm here now." She kissed my forehead
I smiled as I fell into a deep sleep, hoping that I wouldn't have the same nightmare.
*next morning*
I woke up recalling what happened last night. I groaned when I heard my phone ringing. Putting on my shoes I quickly walked out of the room to take the call since mom was sleeping.
I checked to see who it was and it was a unknown number. I answered the phone slowly putting it on my ear to hear who it is.
"H-h- hello?"
There was dead silence and my heart started beating rapidly again. "H-h- hello?" I said again hoping to hear a voice. But still, it was quiet on the other side making me even more nervous. I quickly dropped the phone call and closed my eyes.
"Oh god...please protect me and my family. Let there be nothing bad coming our way." I whispered to myself as I prayed.
My bedroom door opened as I was seating cross-legged on the wooden floor in the hallway.
"Rosia, is everything okay?" Mom asked walking towards me.
"Yes, everything is okay. I was just talking to Hailey on the phone."
"Did you sleep well after the nightmare?"
"Yes! I slept peacefully and had good dreams." I said getting up. "That's good to hear. I was thinking, how about we go get some breakfast together?"
