There's only one sentence that I've been hearing my whole life, "If you don't run, you're going to die."
•Flashback•
"You better be quiet or else they'll find us." She whispered covering my mouth.
"Who, mommy?" I asked, my innocent little eyes looking through the dark trying to find light.
"They can't find us or else they'll kill us."
"Who?"
"Uncle Scott." She whispered as we hid behind the bushes in the dark. "But mommy you sai..." She instantly covered my mouth as we heard voices near us. "Zoe! Zoe you bitch, you better come out or I'll cut the brats head off." A deep voice threatened.
Not making any sound, we moved backwards as he was approaching us. My skin itched as the grass leaves scratched the bare skin on my arms.
I felt a sharp pain underneath my foot, tears filling my eyes as I cried for help. A sharp tree branch had made its way up in my foot from underneath, the pain worsening.
"Aaaahhh!" I yelled in pain, my foot wet from blood.
"Sshh." She covered my mouth.
I heard footsteps approaching us and my heart started beating faster and faster. We heard the footsteps pass us as we hid behind the bushes in the dark. A few seconds later, I covered my eyes from the gunshot. Mom pulled me shouting "Run Rosia, Run!"
I ran as fast as I could, ignoring the pain I felt. Not only physical pain but emotional pain too. I couldn't see anything in the dark but I followed mom. She'd always say to run and never stop no matter what. Even when bathing me, she'd tell me to run or else I'll die.
"You won't be able to run away from me you bitch!" A man yelled far from in the bushes. "Keep on running Rosia! Don't stop!" Mom shouted as we ran as fast as we could.
"Mommy, I can't run anymore." I slowed down out of breath. She stopped and turned around to face me.
"Listen to me. If you stop running you're going to die. Do you want to die?" She asked with both of her hands on my shoulders. I shook my head and
wiped the tears that had rolled down my cheeks.
We kept running and never stopped.
All I could hear were loud screams and gunshots in the background.
•two days later•
I stared at the white wall, not taking my eyes off it.
"Ouch." I winced as the nurse cleaned my injured foot.
"She'll be done cleaning your foot soon and you won't feel pain anymore." Mom whispered in my ear.
I was relieved to see her cleaned up in a fresh pair of clothes, her hair cut into a neat bob. Frowning, I touched the two bruises on her cheek.
"Here is the new location where you'll be moving to along with your daughter mam. You will still have the same identity but in a different location. If anything suspicious happens, don't hesitate to call me." The officer said handing mom a document with all the information. I looked at the tall, muscular guy who had a bit of blonde hair in the middle of his head, his sides shaven.
