After taking a nice warm shower I walked towards my closet rapped in a white towel. I put on a simple white dress with my flip flops. I didn't want to wear jeans because it was hot today.

I decided to check my phone if I have any messages from my friends. My eyes grew wide looking at the number of messages and missed calls I had from my best friends Hailey and Natalie.

92 missed calls.
104 messages.

First message reading:
Hey Rose just wanted to let you know that Hailey and I are having a sleepover at my house so if you wanna join you can. xoxo

Second message from Natalie:
Rose... what the hell!! You're Mom just called us telling us what happened to you. Are you okay?

Third message from Hailey:
Please tell me you're okay! God I'd die if anything happened to you!!!!! xoxo

And the rest I didn't read because I was too lazy. I dialed Hailey's number waiting for her to pick up.

"Rose for gods sake are you okay?" She asked desperately.

Rose is the nickname they gave me. I used to hate but now I'm kind of used to it.

"Yeah yeah I'm fine! It's not like I was in a car accident." I chuckled.

"You're mom told us what happened. Girl, I know I taught you better than this." A familiar voice exclaimed. Rolling my eyes I knew it was Natalie.

"I just wanted to close my eyes and forget about everything okay!" I yelled.

"Come on Rose! We can't afford to lose you." Hailey lectured me.

"Okay, I'll admit that what I did was wrong and I'm sorry." I apologized closing my eyes and reflecting  on last night.

"Well at least you're okay and that's what matters right now." Natalie heaved a sigh. I could hear Hailey agreeing with her.

"Anyways, can you believe it's the last day of summer and tomorrow we're going back to school." Hailey sighed.

"Ugh.. don't even remind me." I rolled my eyes. "Just the thought of it makes me wanna puke." Natalie uttered making us laugh.

"My goal this semester is to get me a mans." Hailey expressed confidently.

Natalie raises her eyebrow "Uh - good luck with that."

"Girl, I know you're not trying to get on my bad side."

Here we go again.

While chatting to Hailey and Natalie on the phone I heard Mom calling me to come down for dinner. Ending the call with my friends I rushed downstairs smelling my favorite food. My moms famous chicken pasta.

"How did you know that I was craving this?" I asked mom feeling famished. "Well after last night I thought I should cook this to make my precious little girl happy."

Pulling her into a hug and I thanked her. "Thanks Mom."

Just as we sat down at the table Dave walked in with Sam. They went ice skating together. They would've taken me with but since I'm not feeling well I couldn't go.

"Rosia!" Sam shouted running towards me.

"Hi, my little Batman ." I smiled hugging him tightly.

"Are you okay?" He asked, placing his small little fingers on my my forehead.

"Better than ever especially now that you're here with me." I kissed his forehead.

Dave walked over to my mom to give her a small peck on the lips and then came over to hug me. Dave is like the father I've never had and I always feel safe when I'm around him. I know his my stepdad and I'm suppose to hate him but honestly that's not how I truly feel.

Dinner was nice today, they were laughing hard at me as they remembered the day when we went to Hawaii for the summer holidays and I tried surfing. I kept on falling so many times that I lost count. I was suppose to be mad at them for laughing but instead I laughed too.

As everyone settled down and continued eating their dinner, I couldn't help but remind mom of what day it is today.

"Mom, remember what day it is today?" I questioned her, before taking in a mouthful of my pasta.

"Yes, it's August 29." She chuckled lowly.

"No, it's the day that dad died." I replied.

"Lord, how could I forgot?" She asked herself, dropping her fork on her plate.

"Your dad went to heaven today?" Sam asked.

"Yes, 16 Years ago." I gave him a small smile.

"Isn't daddy your daddy?" He asked.

"See Sam, Dave..." I tried explaining before Dave gave me a "I got this" smile and started explaining everything to Sam.

"Today's the day and I can't believe I forgot." Mom spoke, looking down at her food.

"It's okay mom. After all, it has been 16 years." I mouthed.

"I promise you I won't ever forget." She tried giving me a small smile.

"I love you mom."

"I love you too, sweetie." She smiled, giving me hug.

Feeling a bit tired I excused myself after we all finished eating. I went straight to my room and changed into pajamas.

Slipping into my blankets  I looked out the window staring at the beautiful clear sky painted with stars.

I wish I remember how my dad looked like. Unfortunately, I was about to turn two before he passed. I only depend on the stories that my mom tells me about him. About how they fell in love and ran away from home before having me.

As I was looking out the window, I noticed a black van going passed the house. The strange thing is it went passed very slowly. My bedroom light was off so I don't think they could see me by the window.

I decided to shake off the weird feeling I had. I was just paranoid right?

Closing my eyes I drifted into my sleep. Drifting off into a deep sleep, the same dream that I've been having... the nightmare about my tormenting past.
