I put on a sweater over my cupcake pajama shorts. They've been my favorite pajama shorts since I was twelve years old. Brushing my curls, I heard laughters coming from downstairs and couldn't help but creep behind the stairs.

A smile appeared on my face when I saw Ashton carrying Sam. His curly hair falling in his eye as he kept on drawing circles on Ashton's shirt. I watched the two until someone else caught my eye. Frowning, I noticed him talking to Andrea. Why do I even care if he's talking to another girl?

Mom always talks about Andrea's mother since their good friends and go out together most of the time ,but somehow Andrea and I aren't really as close. We just know each other because our moms' are like besties (at least that's what they call themselves).

I decided to go downstairs when I heard Andrea laughing and staring at Ashton flirtatiously.

I stopped in my tracks as soon as I saw her hand on his arm. So many emotions were running through me at the time that I didn't know how to react. Am I supposed to feel angry or just act like everything thing is okay?

What? You can't blame me for feeling angry!

"Ashton?" I called out.

He turned around as soon as he saw me standing next to the stairs. Andrea dropped her hand and looked down, her thick long hair covering her face.

"Hey." He bit his lip, eyeing my pajamas.

I shyly walked over to them and grabbed Sam, squeezing him into a tight hug. "Hi, my little Batman."

"I mished you." He smiled.

"I missed you more." I grinned, trying to fight back the tears. He didn't know that our lives were in danger or that we almost lost mom because of the accident. Flinching, I felt Ashton's hand rubbing my back slowly as if he could read how I was feeling.

"Are you hungry?"

He nodded continuously and laughed as I tickled him. I love him so much and I would do anything for him. He's my brother, I'd protect him even if it meant loosing my own life.

"Let's get you something to eat but first I have to greet Andrea." I whispered in the little boy's ear.

"Hi, Rosia." She greeted shyly.

"Hey." I greeted back.

"Um, I brought Sam over since Dave said you'd be home by now." She smiled.

"Yeah, thank you so much."

"Yes, thank you." Ashton said, looking at me.

"How is she?" She asked, frowning.

"The doctor said that the operation went well, she just has to recover."

"That's good news." She tucked her lips in

" I guess we'll see you around." Ashton smiled.

"Well, have a good afternoon. Bye!" She hugged Ashton before leaving.

"Bye." Sam waved back.

"Okay, let's go get you something to eat." I turned to Sam as I walked to the kitchen. Sam played on his tablet while he sat down at the dining table.

I set the timer for the homemade lasagne in the oven before preparing hot chocolate.

Smelling the strong scent of a man's perfume, I knew that Ashton was standing behind me. The warmth of his body radiating off me, made me nervous.
