I hid in the closet as I heard two voices yelling. The closet door was a little open so my innocent eyes peeped through.
"Please let me go. I swear I won't tell anyone." A woman's voice caught my attention. The voice sounded all too familiar. I peeped through again and saw mom's face.
"Listen to me you brat. If I want you to stay here you will stay, okay? No one makes the rules here but me." A man's deep voice caught my attention.
"But I miss my family. I c-can't ..." A loud harsh sound erupted causing tears to roll down my face. I watched as the man continued to beat my mom without caring about the cries that were coming from her mouth.
"No." I cried. My small hand instantly covered my mouth.
The man stopped hitting my mom and his murderous eyes stared in my direction.
"What was that sound?" He questioned, bending down and grabbing mom by her hair.
"N-nothing." I stuttered. Her face full of blood.
"Don't tell me that. What was that sound?"
"I swear to god that it was nothing. Come on babe. It was my crying."
He stared into her eyes for a few minutes trying to see if she was telling the truth.
"I won't go if you stop hurting me like this. I'll stay if you don't beat me up. I love you." She whispered the last part.
He looked at her again before roughly pushing her away and storming out the room.
"No!" I screamed.
I felt beads of sweat dripping down from my forehead. My heart was beating at a fast rate as I searched my surroundings. I took a deep breath as soon as I realized that I was in my room at Ashton's house. I switched on my side lamp and took a sip of the water I placed earlier on before bed.
It was just another one of my nightmares.
I put on my unicorn slippers and took my phone before strolling to Ashton's room.
I knocked on his door several times but there was no answer. After giving up I turned around to walk away when I heard the door open. I turned around and met a shirtless Ashton. His hair was messy and he only had lose black sweatpants on.
"Hey, don't go love. Sorry for taking long. I was in a deep sleep. Are you okay?" His voice sounded husky. His eyes glared at my bare legs and the big white shirt that sat like a dress on me. He shook his head trying to get back to reality.
"Oh-uh. I was wondering if I could sleep with you tonight?"
"Bad dream?" He questioned, a bit of his hair falling in his intimidating eyes.
I nodded and looked down at my cute slippers. Before I knew it his body towered over me and his muscular arms pulled me into a hug. He pulled away after a minute or so.
"Come in." He pulled my arm.
I made my way to his large bed and slipped into his bed covering myself with the puffy white blankets. I took the moment to smell the blankets.
I've always loved the smell of fresh linen. It just made me relax.
"Are you seriously smelling my blankets?"
My eyes shut open meeting Ashton as he stood in front of the bed with his arms crossed.
"Yeah, do you have a problem?"
"Yes. Remind me to never allow a girl to come into my room to smell my blankets ever again. Bloody freak." He chuckled.
I rolled my eyes. "Shut up and come and sleep."
