Mr. Nitrogen (Sequel to Leonardo the Nightwatcher)

Reaching Out

Donnie took a sample of the frozen nitrogen from the hospital bathroom in order to study it. As he studied this mysterious nitrogen, he found something extremely shocking! Coincidentally, and much to everyone's concern, nobody had seen Garrett. It's like he disappeared completely! He hadn't been seen for several days. Donnie ran up to everyone and said, "Guys, I just found out something! Come over to my lab ASAP! It probably concerns Garrett!" Everyone went to the lab to see what Donnie had to say. "Alright, so I found out what this mysterious frost was in Garrett's bathroom," explained Donnie, "this frost is a mix of nitrogen and mutagen!"  Splinter and Donnie's brothers all gasped. They knew what the mutagen was, and it had always caused a lot of problems for them. "That may explain why Flash, Timber, Adagio, and Blueblood brought him to TCRI," said Sunset. "Exactly Sunset," said Donnie, "your brother was exposed to a mutagen tampered nitrogen, and it may have caused him to mutate!"

"Wow, this is almost like The Incredible Hulk's origins!" said Mikey. Sunset glared at Mikey, not liking the comparison. "Actually, you're not far off Mikey," said Twilight. "I got a feeling this may explain why Garrett ran off," said Leo, "he's terrified of these inexplicable powers that are a result of his mutation."

"We have to find him and help him," Raphael said seriously. "I agree," said Sunset, "let's find him and try and reach out to him." Leo nodded and said, "Let's search in teams of two around the city. Twilight, you're with me. Sunset, you go search with Raphael. Donnie, you're with Mikey. April, you're with Casey. Splinter, can you take care of the kids while we're gone?" Splinter nodded yes. "Alright team, let's move!" ordered Leonardo. The eight friends separated with their partners in order to look for Garrett, wherever he was in New York. They searched for several hours. Raph and Sunset looked everywhere, refusing to give up on finding Garrett. They went to one corner, and it felt chilly. "Did it just get cold, or am I imagining?" asked Raphael. They noticed there was frost on the street corners. "You're definitely not imagining big guy," said Sunset. They found Garrett sitting in the corner, burying his face in his knees. Raph and Sunset were shocked by his newfound appearance. "Garrett?" Sunset softly said. Garrett looked at Raph and Sunset. He gave a look of fright, saying, "Raph, Sunset, stay away from me!" 

"Garrett... bro, we're here to help you..." Raph said, trying to reason with his brother in law. "You guys don't understand," said Garrett, "I'm like Midas... except everything I touch doesn't turn to gold! It freezes!" He then began to cry, his tears freezing into mini droplets. Raph and Sunset looked at him sadly. "Garrett, if you come with us, we can find a way to help your condition," said Sunset as she offered her hand, reaching out to her little brother. "No, I don't want to hurt you!" protested Garrett, "I can't control my powers! What if when I'm holding Starlight, I accidentally freeze her?!?!?!? I can't live with that thought!"

"We'll find a way to help you," promised Raph, "just come with us..." Garrett looked at them, and decided to come with them, optimistic that maybe he could get the help for his mutation.
