It had started just how everyday had in the previous years. The youngest of the two hobbits, Lillianna Baggins, at the ripe age of 40 had ventured out of her hobbit hole and into the great wonders of the shire.
To many races of middle earth 40 years was so young but to men it was about half a life time. Yet Lillianna was not of men folk. Lillianna was a half hobbit, half elf. A hobbits life time can reach that of 100 years although few have been known to surpass that. Whereas Elves would live much longer due to their wonderous immortality. For Lillianna this left little information into her future so Lillianna took each day as it came in hopes of remaining alive to see the beginning of the next age of Middle Earth.
The daily walks helped to retain the youth and wonders of this young half breed but the next days would change that considerably.
For on her walk that day she bumped into a tall man shrouded in a grey cloak along with his grey pointy hat which Lillianna knew would have swamped her head.
"Hello young Miss. " The man spoke.
"Hello." She squeaked in return.
"My name is Gandalf the Grey." The man spoke once again. Lillianna knew this meant he wanted her name.
"I'm Lillianna Baggins, Sir."
"A Baggins... You wouldn't be Bilbo's sister?" Gandalf spoke.
"Half-Sister. Same mother, different fathers. Although his Dad took me in anyway." Lillianna answered. She gasped, for she had never told anyone of her family. To all the folk in the shire, she was a Baggins through and through yet she held no Baggins blood. Partial Took and some galivanting Elf sure, but not a single drop of Baggins flowed through her veins.
"Of course. A result of one of Belladonna Took's affairs. " He murmured. "Would you perhaps escort me to Bag End, for I would very much like the pleasure of talking to young master Baggins?"
Lillianna simply nodded and gestured for Gandalf to follow her.
"Could I ask what you wished to talk with my brother about?" She asked her curiosity getting the better of her even though she had more the thrice been reminded by her brother that curiosity is an awful trait for a young lady right behind her fascination with adventures.
"I was quite hoping he would join me on an adventure." Gandalf responded, quite to the fact mind that.
"Oh, how exciting! Going on an adventure. Although I doubt Bilbo would be interested in such a thing." Lillianna informed.
"I feared as much but I believe it is quite time that Bilbo had an adventure otherwise I hate to think he might end up like his father. Stubborn and miserable. " Gandalf stated.
" I'm not sure Bungo was all that miserable apart from when he found out about mama's affairs. Though she promised I was the last. " Lillianna responded.
Into an awkward silence they slipped, which brought much discomfort to the young hobbit. So she couldn't help but breath a sigh of relief when the warm comforts of Bag End appeared at the end of the road. Lillianna slipped her hand into the pouch of her dress to be met with the rattle of coins. The market.
"Gandalf, I'm afraid this is where we must part ways. Bilbo would hate it if I returned without the groceries from the Market." She spoke casting a fleeting glance at Bag End, noticing the smoke rising from the front garden causing a smile to grace her face at the thought of her brother smoking quite contently. "But if you follow this road about only 200 metres, you will be met with my brother smoking his pipe in the front garden."
"It was a pleasure meeting you, Lillianna Baggins. I hope to see you very soon. However, I suggest on your trip to the Market you buy plenty of food for you don't know when you will next be feeding a party of unexpected guests." He smiled and winked at the young hobbit as she waved and dashed off back down the road.
