Lillianna couldn't help but be swept up the warmth of those eyes. She could see herself falling for those eyes. She glanced at the rest of the person she froze. For there stood another dwarf.
"Yes?" She hiccuped trying to stop the tears that fell down her face.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
It was then that Lillianna broke down again. The dwarf pushed the gate open and sat next to her. He'd never dealt with a crying female before only his sister Dís but that was only when she was a child. She hadn't cried since.
He awkwardly wrapped his arms around the girl and brought her to his chest. He found himself naturally rubbing her back in soothing circles. It was this position they stayed as Lillianna took deep breaths.
"I'm sorry." She hiccuped into his chest. She carefully pushed herself away from him. "Lillianna, at your service." She attempted to smile. Lillianna winced once she had realised she had picked up on the dwarves unique way of introducing themselves.
"Thorin, at your's. " Thorin smiled impressed by the girls knowledge of dwarf etiquette, or what little etiquette they had. "Are you going to tell me why you were so upset?" He asked.
"I would hate to have you hate me too." She whispered as she lowered her head to look at the ground.
"Why would I hate you?" He asked.
"All of the other dwarves hate me. They don't even know me..." She whispered as she gazed at her bare feet.
"Other dwarves?"
"Yes. I have 12 dwarves and a wizard in my house. Unusual for an average person of the shire. I was so excited for this adventure. It's all so new and exciting. I thought I could be there friend but they dismissed me just because of what I am." She whimpered. "I guess this means Fili and Kili won't teach me to how to use those swords. Balin, was nice to me but I guess with everyone against me he wouldn't want to ruin his reputation." I smiled remembering the eventful arrival of the dwarves.
"Fili and Kili, they'll use any chance to fight even if they have to teach someone. "
"You know Fili and Kili?" She asked looking him in his eyes again.
"Yes, they are my nephews." He smiled.
"Oh. I guess your here for the meeting then."
"I am but that is not what this was about. Why don't the dwarves like you?" He asked.
Lillianna in took breath preparing for the cruel treatment from this kind person whom had comforted her.
"I'm half elf." She muttered under her breath and into her hand.
"I'm afraid your going to have to speak up, sweetheart" Thorin chuckled, putting his hand under her chin and lifting her head to make eye contact with him. Not that he would admitted it but ,even though you could see the red puffiness around her eyes, her eyes were the most alluring blue he had ever seen ,similar to the sky on a clear day.
"I'm half elf." She spoke loud enough for him to hear.
Thorin withdrew his hand from under her chin. Lillianna felt her eyes start to water again. Thorin felt his chest clench as he saw the hurt in her eyes.
"I'm sorry. " She whimpered. "I wish I wasn't. I've never even met my father or any other elf so I don't know anything about them. I was raised as a hobbit. I'm so sorry."
Thorin placed his hand back under her chin, much to his surprise. "You shouldn't have to be sorry for something that you have no control over. It's just dwarves and elves have never had the best of releationships. "
