I woke up a little bit earlier than usual. No special occasion. I just woke up from another nightmare so, I ought to wake up early. Y'know what they say, early bird gets the worm.

But I don't see anything in that sentence that relates to my current situation. I went downstairs only to find my brother Se Jun, eating his breakfast alone.

My dad and step-mom went on a vacation, leaving the house under our care.

"Morning V!" He chimed.

"I sweat to god I don't know how you came up with that ridiculous nickname for me." I shook my head and sat down opposite of him. I took a piece of bread and spread blueberry jam on the surface.

"What?" He laughed. "It's a nice nickname. Can't blame me that you kept doing the same boring pose in all your childhood pictures."

"Hey! 'peace' sign is not boring. It's iconic," I said and took a bite of my sandwich.

"Oh hey, I'm going out later." He wiped his mouth with his napkin and continued,"I met Chaewon yesterday and apparently she had no clue who I was. We talked and got to know each other a bit more. And well, we decided to hang out later."

"Wait, what!" I dropped the bread and furrowed my brows. "Does she know you're my brother yet?"

"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention you," he sheepishly said.

"Hyung!"

"Take a chill pill, V. It's been awhile since I last saw her and it never crossed my mind to mention you. Unlike your poisonous relationship with her, Chaewon and I were friends and it really bummed me up to know that she remembers nothing of our friendship."

"Firstly, I was her boyfriend." I stuck my tongue out. "And secondly, I doubt her brother would let her hang with a guy."

"Oh you mean her step-brother; Jun-Seo?"

"H-How did you.."

"He's my colleague back when I was studying overseas." He chugged his cup of orange juice and began to clean up after himself. "He said it was okay for me with hang with her. Just make sure that I send her home before curfew."

I pursed my lips and slouched my back. Letting out a heavy sigh, I looked down on my plates and thought of an idea.

"Can I join?"

"No."

"But--"

"No."

"Fine. I'll just stay here alone, in a big lonely house, with nobody to accompany me."I looked up at Se Jun and gave him a half-hearted smile. "Have fun, hyung."

"Ugh." He rolled his eyes and eyed me for awhile. "Would you like to join us?"

"Well, since you insist." I smiled brightly and quickly left the dining room.

"You better behave later!"

"I'm not promising anything!" I shouted back.
