Chapter 21: What's Best?

Ira's Pov:
As soon as the Resistance was back together for another war, we warned every civilian to evacuate the area. They all nodded in fear and escaped to a new land where they would stay until the war was over. So far, Doctor EggMan hadn't appeared so that's one thing off the list of problems we had. Although, we don't know much about Perfect Infinity.

All we know is that Gadget has the Phantom Ruby and is planning to rule over the world just like me. "So, has anyone found out what Gadget is up to? Plans? Robots?" Sonic asked, throwing out possible answers but, no response. "It seemed as if Perfect Infinity might be wiping out information that might be useful to us." Shadow explained as he went toward a computer. "All we know is that he is the 'Infinite'" He added, his fingers typing away at the keys.

I earned a shiver from the hedgehog just saying my old name, I really hate my old-self. Now that person was weak and pathetic. "Hm, well maybe we can send someone as a spy. It might be a suicide mission but, it also might be our only choice." Amy suggested, everyone in the room nodded. "I'll be the spy then, it's a dangerous mission but...I need to pay my bad deeds." I said and soon enough Gears volunteered as my partner.

At first, everyone disagreed since he was hurt but, he managed to convince Sonic to let him join. "Alright but, Ira will keep a extra eye on you." Knuckles looked at me and I just nodded. Gears was probably another good reason for Perfect Infinity to stop being evil, Gadget always loved his little brother. The proof was there all along especially when Gears was in a coma still. "So, what's the plan?" Gears asked as we went upstairs.

I opened his and Gadget's room, the door making a quiet creeking noise. "First, I have to think of some good memories me and Gadget shared. You are already a good reason anyway." I explained and he just giggled at the last part. "Alright well, I better get ready. I'll leave you to the memories." He replied, going to the bathroom. Leaving me alone with only my thoughts, my stupid love-filled thoughts that is.

I kept thinking of a good memory but, each one was as good as the last one. My confession, our first kiss and, our first secret date. They are all good memories but, each one was just like a cheezy scene from a romance movie. Nothing that would remind Gadget of our relationship so if that's the case then...well I got nothing. Although that 'nothing' has to turn into 'something' and really quick too.

Why is my mind playing games with my memories?
