Chapter 24: Twins

Gears' Pov:
"Are you sure that you are alright?" Ira asked as we hid behind two boulders. "I'm fine, I just have a broken arm. It won't effect anything." I whispered as I saw Perfect Infinity step out of his base. "Alright, once he is gone, we'll sneak into the base and take pictures of important information." Ira explained, I nodded and we looked at Perfect Infinity again.

My brother looked both ways before floating up into the air and fly away somewhere. Ira signaled his fingers towards the door and we got up. We rushed to the door just in case he comes back to get something. "How do we open this?" I asked, realizing we shouldn't leave a mark of evidence anywhere. Ira looked around, sweating a bit noticing that he can't kick down the door. "Give me something sharp." I ordered, a idea popped into my head. He got out a dagger that he kept in one of his utility belt's pocket.

I gave him a confused look and he sweated a bit while instensely pointing at the door. Guess, he doesn't want to explain why he has a weapon with him. I put the dagger into the lock and moved it around a bit before it finally unlocked. The door creaked opened showing nothing but, darkness. We both cautiously stepped in, hoping that Perfect Infinity didn't set any traps that would capture or kill us. Luckily he didn't, probably because he thought no one knew about his base until now that is.

I used my only good arm to try to find a switch, I felt the wall with my hand until I landed on a lever which I pulled down. The room suddenly was lighten up with computers turning on, machines buzzing, and lightbulbs flashing. "Oh gosh, what is Gadget doing?" I nervously asked knowing my brother was never like this. He was so sweet and wanted nothing else than to just help people. He wanted peace and for the war to stop. Now, he is the opposite of that. He wants violence to outbreak. He wants to see people suffering. He is basically a psychopath now.

"Come on, Gears focus. Soon, we'll find out about Gadget and fix him." Ira reassured, giving me a smile and taking out his camera. He took pictures of the machines, the main computer, and other stuff as well. I really want my brother back and since Ira and me are the reasons he can come back..wait. Didn't Ira say he had chosen a memory for Gadget to remember? I walked towards as he put away his camera and I made him face me. "Have you decided on a memory yet?" I asked, giving him a stern glare as I grabbed his shoulders.

I saw him get nervous and hesitant as he looked at the exit. "You haven't, have you?" I asked, letting go of him and holding onto his hand as we walked out of the base. "No...there are too many good memories to choose from." He replied as ran a bit to the base in hopes of Gadget not catching us. "I see...do you miss your romantic relationship with Gadget?" I asked and felt him hold my hand more tightly. "Of course I do, more than you could ever think of." Ira replied, stopping himself and looked down. "You wanna know, why I like you as a friend?" He asked and faced me with a small smile. "Why?" I asked, getting confused as to why he would ask that.

"Because you look just like him." Ira responded and continued walking without me. He noted that fact that we were twins and why didn't think I think of that. I rushed to his side again but, this time our walk home was awkward. It felt uncomfortable.
