Chapter 29.5: Not A War

Gears' Pov:
I could tell that Ira was struggling with how to deal about Gadget being Perfect Infinity. "Thanks for helping us, Gears. You really are like your brother." Tails said, he smiled and grabbed the water bottle. "Yeah, I'm trying to be just like him!" I reply as I smile back to the two-tailed fox. Except do I really want to be like Gadget? I don't think I can trust him with his own decisions and opinions. After all, he dated Infinite without anyone knowing. If he told us then, we could've made some sort of peace treaty there but, no we had to suffer.

Shadow came into the room and sat next to me, he seemed very confused and very distracted. "Hey, Shadow? Is something up?" I asked as he handed me a carrot and another water bottle. I just told him to grab some supplies from downstairs as I was running out of water and food. "It's Ira. He asked me, why I did what I did to his squad." Shadow responded, his eyes never leaving the door. I guess they talked downstairs as Shadow was finding some supplies. "And you replied with?" I asked, sipping some water from the dust-covered bottle. "Nothing. I just said, that I didn't want to answer." Shadow said, he seemed rather uncomfortable as he stated his answer. Infinite was really evil and insensitive during the war. It seems as if Ira is still insensitive but, why? Oh I know, he still cares about his Jackal Squad.

As I became more angry, I showed it as I split the carrot in my hand in two. Shadow noticed my action as he grabbed one of the split carrots. "Why are you so mad now?" He asked, he started munching on the vegetable as I looked down at the floor. The floor wasn't comfortable especially sitting criss-cross. I didn't have a answer, did I? I couldn't think of one. I saw Amy and Tails chatting away while munching on some apples. Knuckles and Rouge seemed to be making up a new plan for how to capture Perfect Infinity. Sliver and Vector talked about good memories they had and laughed along. "I don't know, I just..don't know. With Gadget being Perfect Infinity. Ira admitting to secretly dating Gadget. Another war broke out. It's just too much for me to handle." I explained, I held in my tears as I brushed my fur.

"It's fine. I felt angry for almost anything after Maria was gone." Shadow stated, he was right. Ever since Maria was killed, he was very stern, mean, and angry. "Yeah, I guess so. Thanks Shadow, I should be going to Perfect Infinity's base now." I said, I got and walked towards the door. "Hey, you're not going without us!" Knuckles exclaimed as everyone in the room circled around me. "Are you sure?" I asked, maybe someone was still hurt. They all nodded and I smiled, this war isn't a war after all. The first took almost a year to finish and this one will take only a few days to finish.
