Bandit's POV
"Bandit," I felt Billie's hand rubbing my shoulder. "Bandit..."
"Mmm," I groaned leaving my eyes closed.
"You gotta wake up, I don't want you to go but if you miss the flight Gerard will kill me," he ran his fingers through my messy hair.
"I'll cover for you then," I threw the blanket over my face to block the sunlight peering in the window. I probably should get up but I don't want to.
"Bandit, baby please. My love, my life you have to wake up I do not want a bounty on my head," he said dramatically.
"Well when you say it like that..." I finally opened my eyes and pushed the blanket down and saw him looking at me.
"Come on, we can eat then go get Mike and Tré," he sat up and slipped on his jeans.
I sat up and held the covers over my bare chest. I almost forgot about last night. Wow. I looked down at the floor and grabbed my clothes one by one putting them on. We were both dressed then went out to the kitchen. It's just about one o'clock. Shit, I do need to get going.
We each ate a bowl of cereal. "You're all packed right?" He asked.
"Yeah," I answered, "I just need to grab my suitcase from my house."
"You're only bringing a suitcase?" He looked up from his bowl at me.
"Six months, not forever. Besides I don't need everything and there's a mall for a reason," I shrugged.
"Yeah because I was gonna say you got some stuff here," he laughed.
"I know," I nodded. We finished eating then left. We drove in silence. I was holding back all the tears threatening to spill as I grabbed my suitcase.
"You're leaving?" I heard John, what the hell is he doing here? He does own it though, so that's a good reason.
"Yeah," I answered blankly.
"You're mother will miss you, I'll see you when you get back," he nodded.
"Bye, John," I said and left. Fuck you too John. I put my suitcase in Billie's trunk then got back in the passenger seat. Tré was in the backseat being very quiet. We drove the street and around the corner and saw Mike waiting on his front lawn for us.
"What took you so long, the plane leaves in a half hour!" Mike got in the car.
"Overslept," I answered.
"Try waking this girl up, oh my god," Billie shook his head and I gave him a smile. I expected a sex joke from Tré but for once he missed his chance. It was dead quiet. The ride continued down the freeway and into the airport parking lot.
It was painfully quiet. I'm used to them yelling or making jokes. Not this. Sometimes it was quiet in here because everyone was tired but this was different.
Everyone had a sad expression. The quiet wasn't helping me not cry, it was making it worse. I needed a radio to drown my thoughts, a joke to distract me, any noise. I did my best to keep my emotions in but I know it won't last long.
I wiped a few of the tears from my cheeks and let out a sigh. We all got out of the car. Mike helped me lift my suitcase out of the car. "Okay the 'no sadness' rule is over, come here Bandita," Tré's voice cracked and he hugged me tightly.
"I'm gonna miss my Chipmunk," I laughed through the tears that came through again.
"Love you!" He squeezed me.
"Love you too but you're crushing me," I said.
"Sorry," he let me go.
I turned around and Mike picked me up hugging me. "Goodbye my pretty lady," he spun me around.
"Love you," I hugged his shoulders.
"Love you too Bandit," he smiled and put me down. "Wipe those tears," he touched my face.
"Not really gonna help," I said. He pulled me into another hug and kissed the top of my head. We pulled back from the hug and he wiped my face.
I turned to Billie and before I could even look at him he hugged me. His chest lifted unsteadily and his breathing was shaky. "I'm gonna miss you," he said softly.
"I'm gonna miss you too," I replied. We pulled apart from the hug, he kept his hands on my waist and looked deep into my eyes. His beautiful green eyes were lined with red as if tears were threatening to spill.
"I never got the chance to take you on a real date," he laughed.
"I never showed you my songs," I added.
"Well shit," he shook his head.
"To be continued?" I asked.
"Of course, we got a lot to do when you get back," he gave me his smirk but his eyes were still sad. He pulled me into a kiss. It was short but deep. Once he let go he said, "I love you."
"I love you," I replied and then we hugged again. I whispered into his ear, "Thank you for last night it was..." I was lost for word. Fun? Amazing? Terrifying?
"It was great," he said. We pulled away from the hug then we all collapsed into a group hug. I choked out a sob that was threatening to scream out of me for so long now.
"Goodbye," I said.
"We love you!" Tré yelled, he sounds like he's crying and I can't tell if he is or isn't.
"I love you all too. Now I gotta go," we stood up and I wiped my eyes again. "I'll call all of you when I get there and I'm gonna be developing the pictures so I'll send you all copies."
"Can't wait to see them," Mike gave me another hug.
"Me too, now," I sighed, "I have to go." I shut my eyes tight before beginning to walk away. I made my way into the airport and had my boarding pass out.
"Bandit!" I heard Billie running in. "Wait," he ran up to me.
"Billie I have to go," I told him.
"I know but I forgot to give you this," he took off his flannel leaving him in a white tee shirt. "It's cold on planes and you're the one that's gotta deal with the cold winter."
"Yeah," I smiled and put it over my shoulders.
"Bye then," he touched my hand and turned away.
"Wait," I pulled his hand pulled him back close to me. I looked at his sweet face one last time before I pushed him off. He tilted his head and gave me a kiss. "I'll wait for you," he breathed, "I promise."
"It's only a few months," I nodded, "and I'm holding you to that promise Billie Joe."
"I love you Bandit," he said.
"I love you Beej," I told him and he kissed me one last time then left.
My heart felt heavy. I wanted to collapse into tears and scream for him to come back and take me back to the house. I truly fell for this kid.
Things won't be the same when I get back. I'm gonna go back to missing Gerard and Mikey because I'm either missing the three Misfits or missing Gee and Mikey. And we'll be somewhat different, everyone always changes.
Goodbye. Only for now. Six months... it's going to feel like six decades. Goodbye.
