Our group work has been completed and we are the second to present. Working with Sadeeq was a success for me because I was never with him alone, he still gives me the 'I will kill you' kind of look but I could care less. The group leader of the first group is rounding up and I have no more fingernail to bite
It was our turn to present and I could hear my heartbeat loud and clear, facing the crowd I wished the ground would open and swallow me, God look at their eyes. Linda smiled at me and gave me a thumbs up, I smiled back awkwardly. The group leader was introducing us and I was internally praying for us to finish so I could sink in my chair
"I would allow Maryam to go on from here" Sadeeq ended his speech and faced me "Huh?" I asked confused "You are the group's speaker" he said with a smirk "No I'm not, you're the speaker as the group leader" I replied real quick "Please don't waste our time or I could simply give you a zero and move to the next group" the professor said impatiently
"Please don't let us fail o, go and present" the group members chanted, I looked at Sadeeq disappointedly and he only smirked. God knows I can't face this crowd in as much as I have an idea on the topic, moving to the front, I began to stutter introducing myself and my hands shakes involuntarily, some students began to laugh and I was at the verge of crying
A wave pass through me like electricity and I possess a new character 'Confidence'. Clearing my throat, my head was raised high and I quickly apologized for the time wasted and got on the presentation, alot of questions were thrown at me and I answered correctly, the class were astonished, how did a hijabi do it like that? The hijab would never be a mockery again in the history of Lagos State University, impressed the professor clapped and asked for my name for extra mark.
Quickly glancing at Sadeeq his smirking face is replaced with shock and I got to smirk last, the professor dismissed us and I made my way to my sit, I was getting the stare of astonishment, my lips were curled in between smiling and smirking
"That's my best friend" Linda said proudly as I smiled at her----
I know it was the jinn at that, in as much as I want it casted away from me it seems like I am enjoying the favour it's offering. Supplicating some duas silently, a beautiful girl approached me and invited me to join the sisters in Islam group which I didn't hesitate to join
"Aysha is the name" she introduced herself with a handshake that I took in mine "Maryam here" I said with a smile, we connected instantly and I told her about my problem with Jinns "Allah would never bestow upon you what you cannot handle, every problem has a solution" she preached and I nodded "So worry less and pray more, we would also support you in our prayers" she said patting my shoulder "Thank you sister. Jazakhillah bi khair" I prayed "Wa iyaki" she responded"Let me introduce you to the rest of the sisters" she said leading me to them and they all stared "Uhm hello" I greeted awkwardly "We say assalamu alaykum sister not hello" a girl that has a piercing in nose chuckled "Ohh! Assalamu alaykum!" I greeted now fully embarrassed "Wa'alayki salam" they all chorused "I'm Asiya" the girl in piercing introduced "Nice meeting you, I'm Maryam" I smiled, I got to know the rest of their names which included; Zaynab, Jiddah, Amina and Fatima.
We took selfies and hope we'd be bond by religion eternally, Jannah
