I am so stressed out from all the wedding planning. I mean who fixes a wedding in two months? My time is very limited and I just have to deal with it, thank God for wedding planners, I just sit back, relax and watch them do everything, I mean they're getting paid.. so.

This weather is something else wallahi, even with the A/C switched on I still opened my windows widely not talking about the skin ashiness from all the shower. All I am left to do is sleep and take care of myself. I am left with my thoughts

"Am I even sure I love this guy sef?" I asked myself. A dumb question with an obvious answer, ofcourse I love him, I mean why date him in the first place right?

"Maryam?" My mom called out "Na'am?" I responded "The skin specialist is here, get ready for your routine" She ordered as I responded positively. I opened the door for her with a smile signalling that she should come in, the old woman and I had become friends as she is the only experienced person apart from mom who I bombard with questions about marriage life and never gets tired or mad of replying

"We are done with the skin care now we'd only use turaren wuta before you become an official amarya" She said as I only smiled

Tick tock! Time flew and it was just two days before the wedding. I wanted a simple wedding and we're having it that way

"Where in the world is Habiba and she knows this is the period we need helping hands" Mom ranted "How can I help mom?" I asked "No need dear, I told you to stay out of any sort of work" She whined "No problem mom, I can handle it" I reassured as she sighed knowing I'm not backing down

Salim's POV

In the next two days, Maryam would be mine. I bit my lip at the thought. How on earth did she end up been mine? I guess I am that lucky. Johnson always gets whatever he wants, that's the old me I am now a complete changed man. I played Nonso Amadi's album and left it at the loudest

"Maryam!" I called out, sighing and sinking in my chair daydreaming
"Lover boy" Abdul called out and I noticed that my friends are here "Mazaaah!" I hailed shaking each of them, finishing each shake with a dab on their shoulder

"Ango! Ango!!" They hailed as I chuckled "Last last na you go marry Maryam" "Naso I see am o" "Sharp guy" Uche laughed punching my arm slightly "Trust" I smiled feeling myself

"O boy! How you take do am sef?" Habib asked "Them no just call me Johnson for nothing, shebi I tell una say I fit get any babe I want" I said raising my shoulders "Just like that you go chop the two million wey we use bet for her head" Uche said squeezing his mouth "Omo the girl no be beans, you think sey e easy? You know how many things I do for that babe?" I asked as they all looked around

"Oya make una open your ear as I teach una 'How to scope girl 201'. Firstly, you must get sense my brother and apply it, Take a step at a time, no dey rush because if you do anyhow the girl go disappear. Ask around her, everything she likes and dislikes and then shoot your shot" I stated "For your mind now you be Baba" Abdul scoffed "I made a lot of sacrifices, leaving my wayward life and digging deep into religion, man it wasn't easy"

"Nawa for you o! Na woman do you like this? This wedding nko? Is it real or you're just trying to... you know?" Uche winked as we all bursted out laughing "Well it's most likely the last part but honestly ba..." I was saying and heard the cackling of ceramic on the floor

"Who be that?" I asked and got no reply "I dey come" I told my friends and headed to where the sound came from but there seem to be no presence of any being

"Na wetin na?" Habib approached the kitchen as I shrugged "Please I hope there are no rats around here because if there is Nna ehn I'd just go book a room at any hotel" Uche said "Look at you! As big as you are, you can't handle a common pest tomorrow you'd be hitting your hand on your chest claiming you're a man" Abdul said "Taaah! Forget that thing, I no dey joke with rat"

"Can I finish what I was saying?" I asked the two noise makers "Fire on" Abdul said

Maryam's POV

Linda drove me to Salim's family house as we both chatted about random and stupid stuff. We arrived and it seemed like no one was home after several honk, I decided to go in myself as I greeted the old watchman and headed to the main building

"Assalamu alaykum! Anybody home?" I called out but everywhere was silent, I then remembered that they've gone to the salon and henna designer
"He might have gone also" I thought. I tried opening the main door but it was locked and decided to check the kitchen door. Luckily it was opened and I stepped in thanking Allah, I heard voices in the other parlour and decided to check who was there, unfortunately I couldn't move any further to what my ears heard, I tried to stay strong but I don't know how the basket slipped from hands. I know it would be a disaster if they know that I was here and so with tears in my eyes I picked the plates and raced to the car

"What is it?" Linda asked concerned, I still don't know why she's always stuck in my mess. I wanted staying strong and ignoring her but tears kept making their way easily down my face

"Just drive" I ordered "Maryam? What's wrong?" She asked again and I couldn't hold the burden in my chest any longer

"It's Salim" I now wailed as she held me "It's okay" I rubbed my back and drove to Khadijah's place, I locked myself in a room because everything seems unreal and I'm trying to take in every happenings around me
