I woke up to several missed calls and messages from...you know who🙄 I only rolled my eyes
"One more exam to go and I'd be leaving this hell-hole" I danced my way to the bathroom and did my business.
I am mentally and physically ready to ace that shit. Nobody would ruin my day, I'm sprinkling happiness everywhere I go. I silently recited some verses of the Qur'an as my legs swung to the rhythm
I saw Salim smiling at the doorway, I frowned and acted like I hadn't notice him. As I walked pass him, He whispered "Good luck!" I nodded and smiled not wanting anything to come between me this moment
Sighting the question paper I knew all the sleepless night was worth it. I finished in no time and just sat there reminiscing every moment, the first time I stepped a foot in here. How harsh Lagos had treated me? How at a point I almost quitted? All the bad times and good times. I looked over at Linda whose neck was curved, face down and still scribbling at her sheet
"Somewhere to find a friend like you" I whispered and smiled. She is one of the most kind hearted person I've ever known. I kept day dreaming until we were told to submit. After the submission students kept yelling and sending praises to God, not everyone who started this journey was able to finish it
"Graduate!" Linda mocked as I send her a big grin "Congrats to us" I said as we side hugged. She gave me a shirt with 2k19 written boldly. I went to the bathroom to briefly change and get almost everyone sign on it. We took pictures and the kids at heart poured drinks on us
We pretty much just disturbed the school until securities made us stay put. There were chattering here and there and I called it a day as I headed to the hostel. Linda made me wait as she kept hugging and exchanging numbers from people
There was a dark cloud and I already know what it means
"Linda let's go" I dragged her as she kept conversing and I only shook my head. We were halfway already when the heavy downpour began. I started running but it was stupid since I am already dripping wet, I sighed and only walked.Linda urged me to run but I am me... I don't take words from people, her figure disappeared in no time. I heard footsteps behind me but I ignored
"Hey" He greeted as I mentally rolled my eyes "Congrats!" He said again "Thanks" I said dryly "You should hurry or you'd get pretty wet" "I am pretty wet" I responded "You'd have a flu" He warned "I don't easily have a cold"
"Man you're bugging, come on now" He grabbed my hand as I roughly snatch it away "Don't you ever grab my hand like that again" I warned as he looked down at me "Or what?" He smiled as I rolled my eyes and walked past him
He grabbed my hand again and I used all my might to slap him "Why would you do that?" He frowned "A warning is a warning, keep off" I roared as it began to drizzle "Why are you so mad? Ever since the trip you've been acting different" He said sadly "Ever since you tried to hit me... twice"
"And I said I was sorry" "Sorry isn't good enough" I said with a straight face folding my arms across my chest "I have anger issues" He said balling his fist "Fix it" I said walking away and stopping dead midway, I twirled around "And ohh thanks for the flowers" I smiled and rolled my eyes, remembering the flowers he sent in this morning
Some students were dancing and all I could think of was sleep. I changed into a robe and drowned in sleep. Someone shook me vigorously and I frowned
"Ohhhhhh o! What is it now?" I hissed "Wake up! You've been sleeping for four hours now" Linda said "Please I beg you with the name of God let me be" I hissed"Don't you know we have a dinner party to attend?" She asked "You know I don't attend parties" I said with my eyes still shut "Trust me, it isn't a party. Award would be given to some people and there would be lot of refreshments" She insisted "Did you say food?" I opened an eye furrowing my brows as she nodded assuring me
