There was an odd amount of wind at the cemetery. it's frigidness engulfing me all at once and containing such sounds of whistles to fill my ears. i had been sat in front of my mother's tombstone for the past two hours. ever since the indescribable event of my meeting with my mom i felt as if i needed to pay a visit to where she rested now. i did not speak to her but instead studied the cold stone.
the slight cracks from over the years and the flowers i placed on the ground in front of the cement. it was her favorite and consisted of the shades of yellow tulips to decorate the area. i was at peace when gazing at this view. and because of the that i was interrupted from these actions for the time i sat here. i was
sure my nose was red from the way the wind hit against skin. it was spring yet today the clouds blocked the sky and brought chilled temperatures.
but as i think of the sudden change in weather i am distracted when seeing the figure of someone walk closer to where i sit. i have to squint in order to notice it is a man. he looked oddly familiar and when he begins to walk closer i realize he does the same thing as well. his eyes are slightly squinted gaping at me. then all at once i realize who the boy is.
grayson.
i loose my breath and i can certify it is him. my chest moves up and down a little quicker. i question even getting up and running away but i am frozen in my place when he is only a few feet away from me. grayson holds something in his hands and they consist of sunflowers. i am confused by it. "are you following me now?" i am able to speak up when he is a small amount of steps away from me.
"no?" it's more of a question than a statement to my words. i am just as muddled until he stops and places the flowers under the name of the tombstone next to my mother's.

an absolutely beautiful soul
that is what it reads and i don't understand it until it all hits me at once. this must of been the deceased girl who was his best friend.
and it was right next to my mother's.
"what are you doing here?" he suddenly asks and i don't realize how he is now sitting with his legs crossed like mine in front of the name.
"i could ask you the same thing." i state before looking away from him. he scoffs.
"only i would tell you." he says and i glare at him until his eyes flicker from my own eyes to the tombstone. grayson's face drops. "you're visiting your mother." i remain silent for a moment and then nod.
"and you're visiting your friend." i say and look up to where he nods. i offer him a faint smile when he gazes away. "i never knew her name." i tell him. "it's very pretty. i always wanted to give a girl that name if i ever had one." i inform truthfully and he looks back to me. he smiles softly but it's mostly a sad one.
"i didn't realize i never told you." i shrug my shoulders when he says this.
"i never wanted to push you to telling me." i state and with that he is quiet.
"is this some weird coincidence that your mother's grave is next to my best friend's." grayson suddenly speaks up and i slightly laugh at the thought of it. it's the first time i do it in days.
"yeah. yeah it really is." i sigh when i say this. i let my hand go to feel the coldness of the cement. "i haven't visited her in almost six months. i thought it was long overdue." i add and i can see from the corners of my eye that he nods.
"i've been coming everyday since friday." grayson voices and i don't say much after that. friday was the day it all happened. it has been six days since then. yet i do not know what to say after what he tells me. "how come you're speaking to me?" he questions and it is so sudden. i loose my breath a little once he does.
