The flash of cameras have now almost blinded my eye sight. it was the night of prom and ethan's arm snaked around my waist as my father took multiple amount of photos for the viewing of later on. "just one more."
"you said that twenty photos ago, dad." i comment with a laugh and ethan smiles when gazing down at me. he still cannot bare to take his eyes off me due to the way i looked. he was admiring me and kept reminding me of how radiant i looked. it makes me have the butterflies in my stomach begin to flutter against my walls.
although ethan did look amazing as well. everything was perfect until the sudden words leave my dad's lips. "god, i wish you're mother could see you right now. you look absolutely beautiful." the absence of my mom at a moment like this causes the actions of becoming emotional to be evident.
i had never thought one time in my life that she would not stand next to my dad and gape at me in awe. i look down once he speaks of this and sigh hoping that the tears that build up do not ruin my makeup. when i glance up my father starts to walk near me. ethan rubs my back in response to the way sadness washes over me. "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to upset you. it was just a thought i said out loud and-"
"dad, it's fine. i just," i pause and take a sigh. "i wish she was here too." i state and he nods when pulling me into a hug. when we pull apart i move my body a little to check the time on the wall.
it should be now that we start to leave. the only people in the house were ethan, my father, and i as jude could unfortunately not make it because of work. he was very dissatisfied by that yet i was able to reassure him we would take lots of pictures. "we should start heading there now." ethan speaks up and i nod giving him a small smile. my father is the one to open the front door and ethan holds my hand when we step down the stairs to pathway of his car.
i insisted on nothing over the top such as a limo or rented luxurious car because i didn't want the full attention on us. yet as we bid out goodbyes to my dad and couple more last photos we enjoy the ride to the place prom was held. ethan played music loudly to hype us up and it worked as we snag along to the music. the venue was not far away and we soon pulled up already seeing numerous classmates from our school.
my eyes scan over each one of them. "none of them look as beautiful as you do right now." i laugh when he says this. the car was parked now and he gets out insisting on opening the door for me. i wait until he jogs over to the other side to do as he said. when i step out i notice the eyes of some individuals and begin to tense up because of it.
i believe ethan realizes it as he starts to whistle. "holy shit i can't believe you're date for tonight." he says softly at first and takes my hand to then step back and eye me up and down. "like damn, see this everybody! this is my girl for the night!" he shouts and i cover my face when he does.
"ethan!" i scold and he only smiles when pulling me into a hug. we sway when he does and then he sighs giving me one last good examination. he puts out his arm so i can slide mine through and be close to him when we walk. there were murmurs of people talking and the some distant laughing. everyone consisting of a smile on their face.
it was very uplifting as some people from class come up to me and comment on how ravishing i looked. it makes me blush but thank them. ethan stays by my side the whole time and we ask some people to take photos of us while we wait until we get in. it all seemed calmed and filled with contentment until the people i didn't want to see start to strut in.
vivian and madeline look absolutely gorgeous. their dresses making them look of royalty and i so badly wanted to tell them that. to go up to them and live prom the way we always imagined it. however their cold stares at the way ethan held my hand was enough to go against my desires. they walk beside one another as i then see jack catch up to madeline to hold her hand. he matches perfectly with the beautiful girl. they both possessed a brightening smile.
