Chapter 53

Jeff's POV

I was walking to the restroom when Beth stopped me.

 "Why would you want her? She is just gonna commit suicide. And then you'll come crawling back to me and say that you love me and miss me. And you never loved her. You still love me." She threatened.

 "She's happy." I nodded.

 "Are you sure? Why do you think she is bothered? She doesn't want to be with you. Or maybe she is having someone else's kid!" Beth suggested.

 "No. She would never-"

 "Are you sure?" She asked. "She will probably just leave you."

 "No. She wouldn't. She loves me." I scoffed.

 "That's what I thought about you." She smirked and skipped away. I walked to the restroom.

 Athena's POV

I was thinking about everything Beth said until I saw Jeff enter the room. He seemed bothered.

 "What's wrong?" I asked.

 "Hm? Oh uh nothing. Just-" He sighed. "Nothing."

 "So let's tell Ruby. So I found out that I'm pregnant!" I smiled.

 "Yay!! I'm gonna have a sister!!" She smiled.

"You already have one!" Jeff chuckled.

"No. She died."  She said causally.

"What? No!" Jeff chuckled nervously and glanced at me.

"How?" I asked.

"Beth 'accidentally' suffocated her. Anne left her unattended and she died." She said getting out some toys.I

 "Beth!!!" Jeff called. Beth ran in.

 "Yes?" She asked.

 "Did you kill your kid?" He asked.

 "What?! Ruby!!! I am gonna kill you next if you don't stop telling everyone!" Beth yelled getting closer to her. She screamed and I grabbed Ruby. I hugged her tight.

 "Ok well it was unintentionally. So it doesn't count." She nodded.

 "No, it does! That's second degree murder!!" I yelled 

 "Whatever!" She shrugged.

 "Why don't we take Ruby with us?" I asked.

 "What?! No!" She yelled.

 "Then we'll just call the cops. See you in court." Jeff smirked getting up.

 "No! Wait! Fine. You can take her. Just please don't call the cops." She begged .

 "Ok. Bye!" I waved and walked to the car.

 "Why are you acting weird?" Jeff asked as I buckled my seatbelt.

"Me? You were!" I yelled.

"Ok! Chill! But you were too. Did Beth tell you anything?" He asked.

 "Well yea. But it was nothing. Really." I insisted.

 "Are you sure?" He asked.

"Yes!!! Ok I'm fine!! Just leave me alone! Please!!" I yelled.

"Don't argue in front of the kid." He whispered.

"Why? Why would she care?!" I yelled.

"No, trust me. You don't want to." He warned.

"Ok, well why?! I'm stressed right now!! Please just leave me alone!!" I yelled. Then all of a sudden I heard Ruby crying. 

 "That's why we don't argue with her in the car. She's been through a lot with me and her mom." He elbowed me lightly.

 "Ow. And sorry. I am still getting used to this whole 'pregnant' thing." I sighed.
